    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72 - 90 Yrs of Spitfires GB

Did a bit more... Removed clamps and it seemed to be stuck ok. Fixed rear tail bits, rudder, and the underside bits, vents, etc. Couple of very slight gaps, so liquid filler applied and left to dry for couple of hours, then another very light coat of primer added. Cockpit door (inner) painted...

    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72 - 90 Yrs of Spitfires GB

Thanks for that Steve, I have considered some clear plastic, I has some spare bits that may be suitable, how would you apply the heat, eg: hairdryer or similar? or place in very hot water? As I'm assuming a paint stripping heat gun or blowtorch or even a candle will be too much and just melt it...

    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72 - 90 Yrs of Spitfires GB

Google AI say this: "During World War II, Royal Air Force (RAF) bicycles were typically black, often with a distinctive white section painted on the lower part of the rear mudguard for visibility during blackout conditions. Wartime Colours: While often black, some bikes used on RAF stations...

    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72 - 90 Yrs of Spitfires GB

More progress... Cockpit dash decals now on, fiddly, but not too bad! Cockpit seat, frame, pilot, etc installed to one side, after several dry fits to check it all lines up! I actually misaligned the seat with the frame when I initially glued the cockpit interior together, not pushing the seat...

Painting parts prior to assembly, yes or no?

Do you assemble the whole model and then prime/paint? Or Do you paint everything on the sprue before assembly? Or Do you prime paint some parts on the sprue (POS) and some as sub assemblies, and then assemble once painted? Or Do you do a mixture of the above? Or Paint everything off the sprue...

    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72 - 90 Yrs of Spitfires GB

Sort of! The rear section has a slight angle on one side, where it meets the middle section. If I have the rear section the proper way round, then the middle section does fit over it, but its on the wonk, and does not completely cover it. However, if I turn the rear section round 180 degrees...

    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72 - 90 Yrs of Spitfires GB

Little update today, primed some bits and started painting internals... Cockpit seat, etc painted up.... And the little fella driving was painted up too. Quite pleased how he came out considering how bloody small he is! Lol... Getting the decals onto the cockpit dash will be fun! tight...

British Universal Bren Gun Carrier - Tamiya 1/35

Yes mate, was quite an easy build, no dramas. Not sure that the Eduard PE added much TBH, as most of it you can't see in the front driver/passenger section, etc. The final weathering look does not quite match how I wanted it to look in my head, IYSWIM? But happy with it overall... yes. (y)

    British Universal Carrier Mk2 - Tamiya 1:35

Ok, so this one is now done. Will post more pics on a "completed" thread, but here's a couple. Did some light weathering, a grime wash, a rust wash, some dry brushing, etc. Not 100% happy with the final finish, I need to improve my final weathering technique I think, as I have a tendency to be...

    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72 - 90 Yrs of Spitfires GB

Can anyone suggest a colour for the RAF blue uniform (pilots)? From the picture on the Airfix box, it looks like I don't have anything suitable. I tend to use Tamiya, Mr Hobby and Revell Aqueous paints, so a paint code for one of those would be good? I'll do a quick google too anyway....

    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72 - 90 Yrs of Spitfires GB

Made a start.... I want an open cockpit, so had to cut out the cockpit door and cut the canopy into three sections [Gulp!]. But, it all went ok, [Phew!] Cockpit canopy was cut first, holding it in some reverse tweezers, cutting with the thinnest razor saw that I own, and cutting very slowly and...
