Desert Diorama - Featuring British ATMP x6 wheeler

This one is now done, destined for the shelf of completion, Lol... There is no proper back story, as such, to this one TBH. I just built the British x6 wheeler ATMP and I knew that I wanted to put it in a dio as soon as I started it, and as it was finished in the desert/sand scheme, I decided it...

    Nervous Newbie.

Hi mate and welcome, well that looks good. I'm similar to you, only started scale modelling again about a year ago. I too have a background in building, eg: plumber, then surveyor.....(y);)

    Book recommendations?

Yep, absolutely, I have a Kindle, but never use it, much prefer an actual book.

    Scorpion CVR(T) FV101 - 1:35st scale - AFV

This is a Google Gemini generated desert scene using my model.... This model will be added to my own Desert Diorama with the British x6 wheeled ATMP, probably tomorrow. Cheers

    Scorpion CVR(T) FV101 - 1:35st scale - AFV

This one is deffo now done, finito, end of, thats it, not doing anymore to it, not perfect, but I think its as good as I'm going to get it. Still not 100% happy with the final finish, but its better than it was and I'm happy with the final addition of a chain to the front and a stowed camo net...

    Tamiya Subaru imprezza WRX 2001

I used to own a Honda (motorbike) with gold wheels, always looked cool, they did a few bikes with Gold wheels.

    Tamiya Subaru imprezza WRX 2001

Do you prime them first? How many coats do you put on? I think I might have to have a go at one of these, Tamiya do a Mini (early proper Mini not the carp BMW ones, Lol) that looks very similar to one I owned way back when. Nice deep blue one.....I keep looking at it.... ;)

    Tamiya Subaru imprezza WRX 2001

Wow, so how do you paint them so fast? thats impressive...

    Tamiya Subaru imprezza WRX 2001

Do luv a scooby, passed one on the road the other day, fully rally'd up to the max, large pipe, full set of decals, mahoosive rear spoiler, etc, but it didn't have the gold wheels, so it just didn't look right without them, Lol...

    Tamiya Subaru imprezza WRX 2001

Do these come pre painted or do you paint them yourself? Never built one so not sure, but you build them so fast, I assume they are already painted! (y) :)

    Scorpion CVR(T) FV101 - 1:35st scale - AFV

Have primed up the camo net on the back. Have also cut a couple of PE straps, originally designed for rifle slings, but should look ok as straps for the net... They have been cut from the PE sprue, dry fitted, cut to length and shaped and have also now been primed, but not yet painted or yet...

Nuther poll - What type of scale modelling do you do/like most?

Yes, another poll, I'm on a roll, Lol....(y);) Sorry, but these polls are only limited to 10 questions, so if I miss something that you do, it's because of that. You can select more than one option, so that should cover it... After trying out various types of scale model, including vehicles...

    Book recommendations?

Cheers thanx for that link, had not seen those books on John's site before. But they are all a bit niche, eg: each only covering one specific subject, so to get a good all round knowledge would cost quite a bit! I have actually bought a couple of the Ammo books a while back, on general...

    Knowing/Learning when to stop!

I have actually gone back to it, earlier today, and managed to tone it down a bit, so am a bit happier with it.... a bit. (y)
