Ok, so the base is now done I think.....have added the edge border, in black. I am still working on the Scorpion, which will also be added to this dio, along with the already completed x6 Wheeler ATMP, and the figures. Once the Scorpion is done I can then create the final scene....- pjgtech

Despite my own advice, eg: see separate thread on knowing when to stop, Lol, and this may well be a mistake? but I am carrying on with this one.... I have knocked the sand finish/pigment back, (a bit), not much, but its not quite so overloaded with sand now. Also added a tiny bit of sand pigment...- pjgtech

A simple question.....How do you know when to stop when building a scale model? Just finished my Scorpion tank build and really not that happy with the final finish, a sand pigment, as the tank is based on a Middle East scenario, so Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. I was very happy with the...- pjgtech

Scorpion CVR(T) FV101 - 1:35st scale - AFV
I was using Mig Ammo pigment fixer. It does not show up as much in normal lighting, but looks like the camera flash exposed it more. Will maybe apply a bit more pigment as you suggest. TBH one of the reasons I'm not happy with the final weathering finish is that I think I put too much sand...- pjgtech

What scale do you prefer most?
When I got back into the hobby I started on 1:72/76 just to get me eye in, as it were....and I still quite like that scale. But I am now really linking 1:35, you get so much more detail but they are not that much bigger, as storage once built is an issue for me. But, TBH I will build in pretty... -

Well I think this one is now done. Not 100% happy with the final sand weathering if I'm honest. It was my first time using lots of sand pigment and the pigment fixer. But really enjoyed the build, a nice kit and well made with not a lot of issues. Some pics....- pjgtech

I do another hobby near Dartford on Sat's and there's a large model shop nearby (TJD), so thought it would be rude to not go and have a little look, and came out with theses few bits... Got home and realised I had already bought the rust pencil, so it was already in... -

I think the building looks a bit more dirty, dusty, sandy, and weathered now? Its pretty much done now, just got to add the border, which will be balsa wood strips, I've just primed them black then they will be stuck on with PVA.- pjgtech
