Jim R's M4A2 Sherman with T40 rocket launcher. 1/72 UM models

Thanks guys. Added the PE to the bogies and fitted them onto the body. Apart from some of the location holes having to be slightly enlarged the fit is spot on so far.

Jim R's AT45 Soviet Artillery Tractor. 1/72 scale TP Model,

Thanks guys. As an intro to full resin kits this ain't a good choice. 😀 A little bit of progress. Added the bolts(? - not clear from my reference) to the chassis. Cleaned up the cab. I put in a piece of firm foam to support the fragile resin. Added door hinges using little lengths of rod...

Jim R's M4A2 Sherman with T40 rocket launcher. 1/72 UM models

Made a start. The main body is 5 parts which fit perfectly. I glued a styrene rectangle into the bottom to give more strength to mount up the model onto a 'handle'. Built up the bogies. Again just a bit of clean up. 7 tiny parts in each and a PE part still to add.

Jim R's AT45 Soviet Artillery Tractor. 1/72 scale TP Model,

First a little background. Pre war the Soviets used the Voroshilovet artillery tractor and post war the AT-T. During the war, in 1944, the subject of this kit was introduced, the AT45. It was based on the T-34 chassis but wasn't really successful and only 7 prototypes were built and none entered...

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

The missus has just bought this lamp from Lidl for her sewing. Daylight and only £12.99. Seems far better than the price would suggest. Worth a look if you're after a lamp for your modelling.

    First names please

I don't know if it is just me but I find it slightly awkward to answer a question or respond in a thread when I don't know the member's first name. Somehow seems impolite to me not to include a name in my post. A lot of us have our first name as our user name and those whose user name does not...

Jim R's AT45 Soviet Artillery Tractor. 1/72 scale TP Model,

Firstly thanks to Peter for setting up this GB. My build is this TP Model resin kit. I've not heard of TP Model and I've never built a resin kit so this could be fun! Mind you it only cost £10.50 delivered so if it does go wrong and end up in the bin I've not lost much. :D You get some very...

Jim R's M4A2 Sherman with T40 rocket launcher. 1/72 UM models

Firstly thanks to Lee for organising this GB. My build will be the 1/72 scale UM kit decals and a small PE fret

    Testing thread

Just checking something regarding photos. On the old forum I had difficulty with loading portrait photos. Looks as if this works without any issues.

    What's on the Bench 2024

Finished the Buccaneer and waiting for two GBs to start in October. A quick build to fill in the time. Airfix 1/72 Curtiss Tomahawk. Not much more to do. Just a few progress shots.

Welcome to the Injection free zone GB Oct '24 - March '25

I think I've just put up a photo of my entry. I have. I have. Oh I am proud of myself.😁

    No injection allowed

Well my kit has arrived. As I said earlier I worried that the unknown manufacturer and the very cheap price would be reflected in a very poor kit but "no". The kit doesn't look bad at all, tatty box but all well inside. It cost £6.61 + £3.89 p&p.

    Airfix 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C

Thank you all for the great comments. They mean a lot. Also a big thanks to the committee for the Dog's Award. It will take pride of place with my Blue Peter badge and my Under 10, 1 width doggy paddle swimming certificate. Chris - The FOD covers are resin aftermarket, the explosive strip on the...

    Airfix 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C

Completed. The base is a cut down one from Coastal Kits. It is actually HMS Ark Royal, the sister ship to HMS Eagle. The model is not fixed onto the base and the wings are only dry fit as I may do more light weathering at some stage. A very nice kit, went together well. Shame Airfix didn't...

    Airfix 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C

Buccaneer XV336, no 800 Naval Air Squadron, stationed on HMS Eagle during the summer of 1971. A build with a personal connection. Mr Dad was a designer at Blackburn Aircraft in Brough and worked on the Buccaneer. A big thanks to everyone who supported the build. It means a...

    Airfix 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C

Thanks guys for such positive posts. All the decals are now on, at least all that I intend to use. Some were so tiny, just pinhead sized dots, that they were beyond me and I doubted they would be noticed anyway. I suppose I've used about 75%. The front aftermarket FOD covers did not have...

    Airfix 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C

Thanks guys for the nice posts and also for sticking with it :thumb2: Started to apply the decals. I had forgotten just how many there are on aircraft. Some of the stencils won't get used - just too small and insignificant. Maybe OK for 1/32 or even 1/48 but at 1/72 - no way. I'll use as many...

    Airfix 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C

Thanks guys for your nice posts. A little more progress. One issue was the potential problem of this sitting tail down. The instructions call for weight in the nose. Because I have made the nose cone folded I couldn't include weight as I doubt the hinge on the nose would take it. I intend to put...

    Sir Mark Cavendish

Recently knighted, Sir Mark Cavendish, has today won his 35th Tour de France stage. The greatest sprinter of all time. He had shared the record with the Belgian Eddie Merckz but today his win means the record is all his. Congratulations on a truly incredible career and a record which, in all...

    Airfix 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for all you posts. My dad would have really enjoyed the discussion on the wing fence thingies. When he worked on the Buccaneer design team his area of special expertise was in fluid dynamics which I believe is all to do with airflow, lift etc. Anyway despite time...
