Steve's 1/32 Revell Terracruzer with MACE missile

Latest update. So the MACE Missile on this kit is a large model in itself. The missile alone is 16 inches long with a wing span of 9 inches. Having ditched the idea of the orange test missile I went for the more conventional aluminium operational missile. However having painted it aluminium it...

Steve's 1/32 Revell Terracruzer with MACE missile

So here is the latest. Regarding the MACE missile. The kit instructions tell you not to glue in place the missile wings. There are 4 lugs that are moulded into the underside of the wing that slot into 4 holes on the missile fuzz. This means you can either display the model with the wings in the...

Geoff’s 1/72 Airfix Hawker Typhoon Mk.Ib (club edition)

Ummmmmm!!!! Could work in your favour Geoff. FRom where I am sat those are some of the more realistic invasion stripes I have seen. I would take a step back before diving in with too much touch up. I think we have seen this picture before but it highlights how scruffy those stripes can look...

    Spitfire Elliptical Wings

Did anyone else see the documentary on the Spitfire broadcast earlier this year. In it they revealled that RJ Mitchell had a big design team around him during the development of the Spitfire and that one of his team, Beverley Shenstone, a brilliant areodynamasist, had been working for the...

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

I picked up mine for the group build Paul. I managed to find one in 1/48 scale. I made a FW in 1/72 before so I wanted to try one in 1/48.

Steve's 1/32 Revell Terracruzer with MACE missile

So here is the latest update. I have managed another full day on the build and completed the trailer / rocket carrier. This was a bit of a technical challenge as all the hinges and pistons that you can see in the pictures are moving parts. With over 74 parts to this section of the build getting...

Steve's 1/32 Revell Terracruzer with MACE missile

Forgot to mention earlier. I had to laugh. Revell in their wisdom have printed "Revell Inc 1982" right across the top of one of the tractive unit box lids . It will have to be removed as it is in full view of anyone viewing the model. Nice one Revell.

Steve's 1/32 Revell Terracruzer with MACE missile

Well another good day at the office. Continued work on the tractor unit. Came across my first kit problem. The long drive shaft was broken about a third of the way along. Fortunately the missing piece was in the box so thats been glued back together This is how it looks now that its in place...

Steve's 1/32 Revell Terracruzer with MACE missile

Well I have managed to get some build time in this week. The parts so far are going together well but that said it is a 1/32 scale and is going to be a big model when finished. With it being an old kit I gave it a wash in warm soapy water and then moved on to the assembly of the three wheel...

Steve's 1/32 Revell Terracruzer with MACE missile

So this is my entry for Lees group build. This kit is from 1982 and I purchased it earlier this year from a certain on line site. When the post man delivered it he shook the box and it sounded like a box of broken glass. He said "That doesn't sound good." I explained it was a plastic model kit...

    Mole Troubles

I agree with the boys comments Chris. Dont get too excited too soon. Moles are most active in late Winter and early spring. I run a flying club and we have been battling moles on our field for years. We definately notice a massive increase in activity during winter and spring which then dies off...

    Steve's Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25; Revell 1/24

Here are the completed pictures of my Jenson Button Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25 car from Mr Bowcats GB. Apart from the issue I had with the decals the car went together reasonably well. Reasonably pleased with the finished result.

    Steve's Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25; Revell 1/24

Well I am calling this one done. Just got finished all the sticky out bits like wing mirrors etc. Thanks to Bob for organising this build and taking me into topics that I would not have considered in the past. Enjoyed the process and reasonably pleased with the end result. I will post more...

    Steve's Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25; Revell 1/24

Been a bit busy lately with other jobs but managed to get some bench time in today. I have fitted the instrument panel and steering wheel into the cockpit and then fitted the completed cockpit area onto the body shell. Now that the body shell has been glossed I have been able to assemble the...

    Steve's Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25; Revell 1/24

Not as much done this week due to other jobs that needed doing but this is the latest progress. Firstly the decals have been applied to the tyres. I wait for these ones to dry before attempting to apply the very delicate and fiddly outer green decals. Here are two with the green decals on...

Lee's Rocket/Missile GB, Oct - Dec 2024 Welcome and chat

So this is my entry sorted. I will probably go with the Terracruzer and MACE missile first and then if i have time finish up with the Jeep.

    Steve's Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25; Revell 1/24

Currently working on the tyre decals. The green band that goes around the circumference is proving a challenge. I am not surprised that many of the finished models that you see dont have this decal showing. I can only imagine the modellers got frustrated in trying to obtain a perfect circle. I...

    Steve's Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25; Revell 1/24

Well some good news to report after my disaster with the side panel decals. After about 8 Micro set treatments and much gentle coaxing with a cotton bud. i think I have managed to save the decals and get them to a reasonable standard. They are far from perfect but a big improvement on where they...
