ICM Spitfire beer delivery
After priming yesterday , I got some colour on . The instrument panel is beautifully tooled but needs careful painting to bring out the best of it . The rest of the cockpit is nicely done, just needing the etched belts which I had in the spares box .These were only plain brass so needed painting.- yak face

Nearly there now . Its had a coat of matt varnish with a couple of drops of off white mixed in , this gave it the dun bleached look I was after . It then had a coat of normal matt varnish. I wondered about the strange location of the V on the serial , sitting much higher up than the DB but looking at photographs of the actual aircraft it shows that Airfix have done their homework and got it right . After a masking session I got the dark earth on and followed that with a lightened mix over the top surfaces to hopefully try and give the impression of sun bleaching. After overnight curing it was unmasked and its now had a coat of gloss ready for the decals .- yak face

I wanted to try and get a sun bleached look to the upper side paintwork so I added a few drops of white to the mid stone and gave the top of the fuselage , wings and tailplanes a random blotching . After a tricky mask up of the open cockpit its had a coat of grey primer . Nothing serious needed sorting just a few swipes of acrylic putty here and there . Its now had the underside azure blue .- yak face

After cutting and sanding to size a suitable piece of sprue this was glued in and spread the fuselage enough to give a nice tight joint. The decal instrument panel settled down nicely so it just needed a coat of matt to get rid of the shine . Then I got the dotting pens out and gave each instrument a dot of gloss .
