Happy birthday to me: A couple that I wouldn't have picked myself but solid choices from the family. Hopefully they'll kick start my mojo 🙂 This one was a Christmas present , a nice easy kit to get my eye back in:

    Andy's Tamiya Fw190 A8 1/48

I've got most of the elements ready, I now need to work on the composition and make a base. O Zoë & I are off to the Lake District for a week now, training for our charity walking challenge later in the year, so there won't be any progress for a while.

    Andy's Tamiya Fw190 A8 1/48

Thanks again gents. I've made a start on the other bits. A whole lot smaller than the one you built Scottie!

    Andy's Tamiya Fw190 A8 1/48

Thank you for your comments guys. The aircraft is mostly done, I'll probably add a bit of weathering once I've decided what I'm doing with the base. On to the ketten' and power unit now

    Andy's Tamiya Fw190 A8 1/48

Thanks guys, I'm happy to be able to squeeze some bench time in! Geoff - all will be revealed shortly 😊 Tony - Agreed. The Harrier is one of the only models I've ever binned part way through 😂 Jim - got to love Mr Surfacer Nick - I don't know what you mean 😜 After a busy morning assembling Ikea...

    Andy's Tamiya Fw190 A8 1/48

Hi all. I'm sorry that I'm so far behind with this. I see that many of you have finished some excellent models already but I'm only just getting started! I haven't been great with the pictures, but here are the sprue shots first: Being a Tamiya bird the construction was very straightforward...

    What's on the Bench 2025

I'm building another Belkits rally car at the moment. This time a Skoda Fabia. Decals are included for the green and black areas but you know me, I've had a go at painting them. A bit of clean up to do then lots of sponsor decals to add next.

    What's on the Bench 2025

I'm working on another Warhammer piece, a Valkyrie. Rather than painting it in regular chapter colours I'm going for a 'what if' pixel camo scheme. Very slow & painstaking, but it's coming along.

Fundraising for charity, please spare me a moment

Hi all, Some of you may know that my wife Zoë had a battle with cancer last year. Thankfully that episode is behind us but in an effort to give something back in return for the excellent care she received, we are taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for Breast Cancer Now. I...

    Andy's Tamiya Fw190 A8 1/48

Hello all, I'm bunged up with man flu at the moment so I'm a bit late getting started on this one. I'll add sprue shots and catch up with the rest of your entries soon, but here are my candidates : Off to dose up on paracetamol and go back to bed....

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

Not modelling related, but after driving my temporary runabout for 3 years 🚘 I've finally found myself a new motor, a BMW X5. It took a long time to find the right colour, model, condition & mileage, but I've finally done it. With the 40d engine it goes like a scalded cat, however running costs...

    What's on the Bench 2024

Well, I've got to this stage but have run into my usual creative block. The scene definitely needs more detail adding, but I don't know what, and all attempts at creating a dust cloud just look rubbish 😕 Yet another one for the back burner I think, alongside my Comet & Pibber, hoping that...

    What's on the Bench 2024

Thanks chaps. There's more weathering to come now that the decals are on. This is the kind of thing I'm aiming for And I'm getting there with the scene too, having sorted the cables. A lot more work to do but I'm happy to have it all in place

    What's on the Bench 2024

Some of the pictures I've seen show these as very grubby and discoloured, so I made a start on that with a sepia panel line wash. I then thinned the same colour and sponged it randomly, blending with a dry brush here & there. I then put the decals on and sealed it all in with a satin varnish...

    What's on the Bench 2024

Following the way I believe they were painted in real life, I gave the Chinook a very quick & dirty camouflage: The after a protective coat of clear I sprayed the desert pink, adding some variation with bits of US desert sand and Middle Stone. I've gradually started abrading the pink away, as...

    What's on the Bench 2024

Cheating, but getting an idea of the main layout. I'm trying something different with the containers too. By sanding the black primer from the edges I'm hoping it will kind of pre-highlight for me

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

I have a devil of a time with tweezers so thought I'd treat myself to a decent set, to see if it helped. So far, so good. They come together at the very tip first so even with my tendancy to grip on for dear life (I know I shouldn't) they don't seem to splay out and send parts into orbit

    What's on the Bench 2024

More progress on this base. I cut down some long woodscrews and inserted the smooth end into holes drilled the depth of the MDF Then I glued the container at an angle, protecting the base so that it and the screws could be removed from the wood later. I used 5 minute epoxy, but even after 3...

    Completed Ki-21-1b "Sally" 1/48

I found this to be a great kit from ICM. As expected there were a few very fiddly and fragile parts but the overall fit was as good as it gets. The upper camo was airbrushed freehand and most of the markings were also sprayed, using homemade masks. Talking of masks, the ASK set I bought for the...

    What's on the Bench 2024

I'm planning a little scene that will need a nice sturdy base, so I was back out to the shed and sliced up two pieces of spare 18mm MDF with my track saw. I may end up trimming them a little, but so far 800 grams of wood ought to keep everything planted.
