Thanks Steven. I've had to make a repair already 🤦 I'm not sure if I was heavy handed or it's just weak, but the tail gear had sagged to the point where the wheel was touching the fuselage. A bit of drilling and a pin have fixed it 😊

Very kind of you to say! One of these days I might be brave enough to enter something 😂 The folding bomb bay doors were a bit of a fiddle but I got there in the end: A couple of antenna were added, plus some ez line, and all of the glazing unmasked. Almost complete 🙂

I've painted the yellow on the leading edges of the wings, deliberately trying to keep it muted and not in "in your face". I've also added the tail decals and a few stencils underneath. I then used a dark dirt sludge wash all over to bring out the panel lines and a bit of streaking, finishing...

    What's on the Bench 2024

Is it too early to get festive? My mates idea, he sees loads of them when over in Spain at Christmas time. Rather than paying to have his used tyres removed he might actually make a few quid if he can sell some. Still WIP, the top tyre (hat) is now gloss black

Onto the markings. I cut some circles out of Oramask 810 film and placed them as accurately as I could, applying the disc first, then the "hole" around it, then removing the disc, to make sure I didn't stretch the film into an oval or whatever. First up was a light coat of the underlying...

Thanks Ian. I've done the camo over the whole topside now, but will keep going back to look at it in case something needs tweaking. I've tried to make the pattern more bold near the wing roots, and less so as it spreads outwards. Since the camo seems to have gone down well with you guys I'll...

Your wish is my command 😁 I've applied the grey-green, trying to keep it light underneath to show the pre-shading. Later steps will dull the effect so I've tried to start off a little OTT. Topside was done too. The masking discs were added afterwards, where the markings will go. The camo...

Thanks again Paul I got the landing gear assembled and fitted today. Perhaps not the best as there were so many fragile pieces that I kept breaking them during clean up. In the end I figured I'd rather have a functioning gear with a few bobbles and mould lines than break it beyond repair...

Thanks Joe. Here's a step I often forget as I get carried away and crack on with the paint - giving the canopy frames a lick of interior colour: The colour was in the airbrush as I've been assembling the engines:

Thanks again chaps. Wings & things are in place, fitment was spot on 👌

    No boxes.

Seems like a good opportunity to post this:

Thanks Paul. There must be a reason but I can't work out what. Talking about glazing, it's all fitted now. I very carefully cemented it in place with TET, then I've run around all of the edges with a bit of Vallejo plastic putty, wiped in and wiped out. I don't want even the tiniest of gaps for...

    Advice on diorama idea

Thanks Richard. I had to read that through a few times but I think I get what you mean. This kit actually has a separate belly panel, leaving a 2-3 mm gap between it and the cabin floor. You've got me thinking that maybe I can cross the wires over within that space, keeping them out of the...

    Advice on diorama idea

I'm looking for some advice from you clever folk please. I've just got hold of the Airfix 1/72 Chinook and I'm mulling over a diorama idea, since I haven't done one for a while. This is the kind of thing I'm aiming for: For ease I'll pose the container on the ground, or just off it, with...

The joints have all been sorted and I've spent a bit of time rescribing panel lines. Some were victims of the sanding and some are an issue noted by others where they less distinct in certain areas. I've fitted the cover around the rear gunners area and it shows what a strange design this...

Thanks again everyone, I'm glad you like it so far. I have the fuselage closed up now, it'll get overnight to dry and I'll run some filler into the joints in the morning if needed: It doesn't look like there'll be much to see in the rear once the main MG is in place, but I think the cockpit...

Thanks Ian I had fun trying to stage these shots without committing to glue, but it's almost ready for closing up now. A couple of MG's to build for the rear and I can join the two fuselage halves, hiding much of this.

Thanks Joe & Tim. This is no Spitfire or Mustang so good reference pics are a bit thin on the ground. Eventually it turns out the interior was all painted in a colour almost identical to extra dark sea grey. I had some MRP in that colour so gave it a blast. I've still got more detail painting...

    Rearranged spray booth

I've made a more permanent outlet for the booth. Up to now I've been poking the pipe out of an open window, but having forgotten to close it a couple of nights I thought I'd better do as I originally planned. I removed the glass pane and replaced it with a 'sandwich' of thick plastic / pir...

A quick look at the Eduard Space decals I bought for this. I think the IP is a big improvement over the kit offering! I've been working on the bombs a bit more, having fun with the paint. I started with a coat of white primer, which I deliberately left a bit rough to add some texture. I...
