    I believe that is a G527 Water Buffalo from WWII. It may have been used in VN, but for potable water, not fuel. By VN it was replaced by the M149.

    I'd be lost w/o hair dryer motor winding wire (the wife's hair spray clogs the vents causing motor failure, so lifetime supply), bread & rolls twist tie closure wire, and solid 18ga wire from the RR. The copper wire flattens easily for strapping.

    I use aged (bin rescued) shelf material, plywood (hardwood frame for stability),or Masonite (hard pressed paper & glue) w/wood frame for base and foam board (paper both sides w/foam in middle) or foam packing material for topography, glued w/PVA and smoothed where needed w/taping compound.     Small WW2 Diorama

    I find the use of 'found objects' a lot of fun. I once modeled a portion of a petrochemical plant with about two thirds of it from stuff discarded.
