Ian M's Motor Yacht Bruma 1/43 scale Panart.

Fighting my way through the deck planking. Here is the blunt end: And here is the sharp end, The rather grubby mess is sawdust... I am wishing I had use different planking as I first planed. The planking in the box is, shall we say naff. The darker narrow bits are a right lucky dip...

Ian M's Motor Yacht Bruma 1/43 scale Panart.

After a bit of a think I concluded that the deck needs to be done before the hull sides... Otherwise it'll be real fun to sand the decks. lol After the initial start up doubts and fears, only one way forward. get on with it! I ended up going for the kits odd planking. Looks a bit iffy in this...

Cheers chaps. After a trip to the shopping center and a cuppa I got the landing plank built. planks are 0.5mm x 20mm x3mm the side beams 1mm x85mm the innermost 2mm and the outer ones 3mm high so the planks sit down in it. Just need a rope handrail, that will be after finishes are done. Cheers

Rather quiet in here. I better make some noise. The deck's 'subfloor' Is now clamped and glue drying. I have given all the frames a good coat of a sealer...but not the contact edges, I want the glue to work. This is the sealer I am using. Serious sticky stuff. First coat thinned with a nitro...

Ian M's Motor Yacht Bruma 1/43 scale Panart.

Well having spent the last day and a half whittling masts down to shape, I took a deep breath and started to drill holes in them... Cross braces, yards I suppose now in. These would have held the mast in tension athwartships. They are a bit hard to find but there are two per mast roughly in...

Well I purchased a few more 'bits'. Buying lanterns over the net is hard. In the shop, where you have the option to look at it and get a better idea of the size, it is much easier. The main reason for the visit though was to get some new dowel to make the booms and masts and some goose-neck's to...

A bit done yesterday and today. A bit of sanding and some sealer and she'll be right. Now I have started to 'dress' the outside of the cabin. They say paint it white.... I say TEAK please. If it looks naff I can always paint it. All good fun. Still.

Just collected a pack or two: both for this thing... First are the new propshafts, lets see if I can butcher those as well. Preferably not. next up are some slightly better lanterns. The only problem with internet shopping. The size is hard to picture, even though there is a drawing with...

Believe it or not this is the result of a pretty much solid weekend at the bench. (the boss is on a course). The hatches have be veneered A quick rub down then a sposh of sanding sealer. The wheel house is way to boring. considering it is so open I decided to 'do it up a bit'. Made a second...

Guess which silly bugger cut his Stern Tubes to long! To make a short story from a long drama. The tubes are fitted with a collar that traps the axle. Once in place pretty much impossible to remove without destroying it. Two new ones on order along with some actual lights so I dont have to use...

    What's on the Bench 2024

Get stuffed or the art of fitting rudder tube and Prop shaft tubes... Time for some two part: The Keel beam is 6mm thick (or thin) through which a stuffing tube for the rudder has to pass. The tube is..... 6.5mm OD. 😟 Turned out you have to cut the keel and block it out with the provided...

First stop the hull 'frets' The parts are laser cut and are very clean but the frames are not numbered so that is the first...

A suggestion for the Latest acquisitions thread.

Now that we have this rather good function called 'comment' how about using that to comment peoples posts in the Latest acquisitions and spots on the internet. It could be that the RELEVANT chat can be better tolerated by the Admin/mods. But can we still at least try to keep to the subject...
