Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build
Hi Guys, I'm back with this cursed build. The enthusiasm of priming, pre-shading sought of fizzled out when I took on the unfinished large dio for the Penang Show. Who has the oldest model kit?
I don't know about old but I built a reissue of an Airfix 1/72 RE8 from an old mold dated 1958 on the inside of the kit...here it is together with the completed kit in a diorama. Cheers, Wabble -

Hi Guys, I missed the boat on this one. I still had six figures more to paint and some strong advice from my friends not to rush it as many details were still missing on the dio itself. The M36 Jackson wasn't even weathered. So it'll be for next year... enough time for details and the snow owl...- rtfoe

Been thinking...
Yup, I wouldn't be able to finish my factory of 25 figures for my diorama if it wasn't for the trusty old airbrush. Base shadows and highlights achieved... now only the details left for the hairy stick like the face, weapons and webbing. Get the airbrush...a decent dual action 0.3 standard... -

Yup loads of weathering using my concoction of oils, kerosene and turpentine. Seems to work just as well as the AK products and great to get back to them. Here are shots of basic pin wash and rust. Hi Guys, More free time to concentrate on this Dio. I gave the M10 a second coat of winter whitewash with chipping fluid and the results were much stronger. I added new stowage to the rear to cover the awful tools... will add rope tie downs later. Then I noticed something awkward about this...- rtfoe

Hi guys, Spent half a day painting the Bedouin. I had to visualise the sun glow hitting his back and creating a bright haze at the edges before the shadows. The experiment seems to have worked with paper masks... I had to create the shadow using an ordinary lamp bulb traced on typewriting paper placed flat and marked out the edges and dimensions of the base. LED lights didn't create the sharp shadows I needed...the ordinary bulb was more...- rtfoe

Hi Guys, I had the bulb in my head switched on and worked out how to distinguish the relieved troops from Patton's armoured division by making them outer perimeter scout patrols of the 101st. So they would have the overall olive drab top to bottom uniform with the baggy trousers pocket...- rtfoe
