Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Thanks Jim, Since changing to a new vignette, I have made alterations to the mules legs to pose as if to resit moving forward. Also I have added tassels to the front and back of the harness... But. Efore that I also readjusted the hind legs to fit the new vignette. More later... Cheers...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Thanks Jim, I'm starting to get the hang of curing times for MS and when to add folds which is the fun part. Applying putty at the initial stage can be messy. Simple stuff is a good start. Just be aware of measurements and proportions to the anatomy when practising surgery. Exaggeration depends...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi All, the donkey business continues with the musket test fitted to see how it looked. This is where it was stowed...later I will fasten the loads with tie down rope probably made from fuse wire. I have tied thread to simulate rope securing the stowage on the donkey and brushed on some grey...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Hi All, the two guys on opposite sides of the turret have a bit of putty added to making the tankers jacket. I did a short mix of Magic Sculpt so fell short of the jacket for the second guy and what was left I worked on the collar. I need to add scarf around their necks and maybe add tankers...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

I cleaned up the figures by smoothening areas where the folds were too stark for the jacket I was to make. Also the gruesome task of decapitating limbs to fit properly. At present the fellas are in the early pattern uniforms and not in tank outfits. All the harnesses would have gotten caught in...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Hi All, while I'm tinkering with figure modifications, I removed the tanks from the Dio so I could improve on the tank crew. Photos also helped referencing the positions when I finish with them. There is still a single pine tree standing. The rest of the tree positions are marked with...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi All, I started on the terracotta urn containers for the mule. Made two from two part putty by first roughly shaping them on a cocktail stick and lathed them with my power drill. Here's what the progress looks like before i do the handles and cover... The lathing lets you create beveling...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Thanks Paul, Just in case you want to know why the donkey has that expression... Who likes being lead by a guy in a skirt with an invisible rope...? That donkey can audition for a toothpaste ad... Every shot except from the bottom... Cheers, Richard

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi Guys, the donkey ears have grown a lot these past years and may need cutting back a little. As it is I've made them look like they are flopping with the wind. Also they are kind of thick and will need parring down plus the inside of the ear needs grooving or carving out. Starting to look...

    What's on the Bench 2025

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, the donkey gets some attention now. I modified the donkey from the Dragon Fallschirmjager set. It was quite stiff looking and wanted it to look as if it was forced to move forward. Also I was going to burden it with a heavy load. It starts out like this...with the one on the left with neck...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, some last few details on the Bedouin before we move onto the donkey... I've beefed up the dagger with putty and scribbed detail. Needs cleaning up. A Bedouin isn't one unless he carries one of their iconic weapons...the North African or Arabian heavily inlaid Snaphaunce Lock Jezail...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, I have moved on to covering the feet. With the extra putty I made sandal straps and eventually even the soles which I was going to do with plastic strip. They're square at the moment but when cured I will snip them into shape and sand them down. I waited until the putty stiffened a little...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi Steve, I don't know what's under my seat but it sure is driving me with some weird mojo. Just a little tease as of what stage I'm at... The figures are just placed flat for now. Some improvements were done to the donkey/mule, long pants added to the Bedouin and the snake has a rough head...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

I crafted the vest in three parts...the right half, back and left half. It is still curing as I type. I teased the front halves as if blown by the wind. This was done when the putty got slightly harder so it stayed in shape. I made stitched sections with the end of a blade and used the same to...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, Continuation of the Bedouin...I made some progress with the Bedouin by adding putty to his lower half and roughly shaping it before it cures. I would then add more folds with a burr and powered drill. Obviously needs thinning down... I need to re-direct the folds around this area...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi All, ...the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end... either way I have to finish this build. It all started way back in 2018 when I had an idea for an Africa Korp dio and then it stalled so I had another brilliant idea, I thought at the time to separate the donkey, Bedouin and add...

Italeri Hudson Mk IV 1/72 scale.

Hi, Another commission build that I have started. I don't often do commission builds but was made an offer I could not refuse. Besides I had the kit in my stash and thought it was the only way I would ever build it. I got it years ago practically nearly free. The kit Fit isn't too bad where dry...

    Happy Chinese New Year

It's that time of the year to celebrate CNY and invite the year of the snake for 2025. The batch of vegetarian dish I made this years reunion dinner was a success and there was no left overs for the next day. Already had four dinners of raw fish salad and the mandarins are as sweet as ever...
