Valerons Airfix 1/72 Gloucester Galdiator Mk. I

I'll be building this for this GB. I'll be brush painting as usual. It's quite a small kit with not that many pieces. The sprues look very clean and tidy. The challenge for me will be how to paint it and keep it together. I had an aborted attempt at a 1/72 scale bi-plane a couple of years...

    What's on the Bench 2023

I've always loved dioromas, even as a child in the 70s. I'm also vary impressed with the ones developed by people on this forum. Anyway I thought I'd give it a go myself. I'll be starting simple and using this Master Box kit. I'm not up to scratch building yet. I have though bought some...

Welcome to Papa695's Bi plane GB. Chat thread

I'll be building this for the GB. I'm going to attempt rigging. Never done it before but I'll give it a go. Looking forward to starting in the New Year.

    Vallejo washes and panel lines

I don't have an Airbrush so either brush paint the Vallejo gloss varnish or mostly use this rattle can of varnish I bought when I started this hobby last year. Its nearly run out so I could change to something else as long as it comes in a rattle can. I don't know how I came across this and...

    Valeron's Airfix 1:72 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero

I'm calling this one done. I've just noticed that my last updated was added accidently to another one of my completely unrelated threads. Anyway here is the latest update. I'll create a completed section shortly. Mike

    Vallejo washes and panel lines

Vallejo washes are the only ones I've ever since I started modelling last year. I guess I went with Vallejo because I brush paint exclusively with Vallejo paints. I always use them on top of a coat or two of gloss varnish and let this cure overnight. I really struggle using them on pin washes...

    Valeron's Airfix 1:72 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero

I've added the decals. They all went on well apart from one Roundel under the wing which would just not play ball and ended up being torn. I've touched it up (not very well) with paint and am hoping a bit of weathering will reduce the difference. Here's hoping anyway. A gloss cost to follow...

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Popped into Lidl today whilst visiting my folks in Nottinghamshire. And came across a box full of Airfix kits for £6.99 each. I bought these 2 and at the till they were marked down 50% so £3.49 each as part of a Non Food event day. Bargain.

    Valeron's Airfix 1:72 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero

First off, my apologies to Andy for stalling on this build. I am well past the end date but, I've started so I'll finish. I've now painted the top of the aircraft and after a bit of touch up then varnish it and move onto decals. The wavy camo was a nightmare for me to brush paint amd keep tidy...

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

Here is my completed entry for Karl and Andrew's Soviet Wingy thing GB. Thanks to both Karl and Andrew for organising it. This is my first time building an Arma Hobby product and the aircraft was a good model to make. I had numerous issues along the way but these were all down to my limited...

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

I'm calling this one done. I post some better photos later in the completed section. It was a fun build and I added my first ever antenna wires to a model which I'm pleased with.

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

I've added the decals and given a second gloss coat. The decals went on quite easily. Arma provide double the amount of decals for all the small ones, plus an extra cockpit one. This is a nice touch. Luckily I didn't need any extra ones for the outside of the aircraft but I previously used the...

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

I've added on all the extra bits, finished painting and applied a clear gloss coat from a rattle can. I'll probably start on decals tomorrow. Putting all the wheel parts in place was very fiddly and caused me to walk away in frustration on numerous occasions. Took me about 3 days elapsed days...

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Just got this delivered from John. I'll be using this on my Russian aircraft for the antenna wires. I very done this before so it should be fun, or maybe an absolute disaster.

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

The darker camo has been added. This was brush painted after marking the lines in pencil. All other small attachments have also been painted. I'm out all day tomorrow meeting friends in London so will attach these parts later in the week, do a little but of touch up required and move to the...

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

A little more progress. I've applied the green coat for the top of the aircraft. I needed 3 thin brush coats for this. Next up is the dark coat for the camouflage on top of this. It's going well and a pleasure the paint.

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

The model has been primed from a rattle can and the underside of the aircraft brush painted with 3 thin coats of Blue Grey. Seams were a problem, well at least for me. The model went together well but I still struggled to remove the seam lines and it required a couple a reprimes to sort them...

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

Not perfect but miles better than the one supplied with the kit. I've also ordered some new Micro Kristal Clear so they'll be a slight delay until this arrives.

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

This arrived today. I can already see the massive difference from the tiny desk light I've been using for the last year or so. I've read a few reviews and seen some positive comments on this forum so I thought I'd treat myself. Mike

Valerons Arma Hobby Yakovlev Yak-1B 1/72

Slow progress as I keep being distracted by real life. Nearly reading for priming, although my Micro Kristal clear has dried up so I can't fit the canopy yet. Also the canopy mask provided is rubbish and wouldn't line up or stick so I'm making my own.
