What I done before... various Napoleonics.

Cheers Jon! I didn't get around to posting the rest of them last night and I've been out all day playing with muskets today so here they are now. This lot represent the RGBW - Royal Gloucester, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment. The Perry brothers sculpting is usually spot on but something went...

What I done before... various Napoleonics.

Cheers chaps. Hard to believe I painted them nearly six years ago! Those two obviously became the Devon and Dorsets - the regiment I first joined. Though I still need to paint one for the 54th. This next lot became the Light Infantry. Still to do are the 13th (Somerset) and 46th (South...

What I done before... various Napoleonics.

Hi all. I've been posting on here a while now but realised I've only posted my new stuff. These were originally posted on Milmod so some of you may have seen them before. The first lot are 40mm wargaming figures from Perry Miniatures plus a couple of Old Glory. They depict fifteen of the twenty...

Matchbox 1/76 scale LRDG Chevy and Jeep

Hi all, I picked this up the other day. Couldn't resist when I saw it, even at 20 notes. I've still got the remains of one that I built when I was about 14 so thought I'd have another go. For a 40 year old kit it's stood the test of time really quite well and I thoroughly enjoyed building it...

Emhar Mk IV - 1/72 Scale

Thanks mate. To answer your question, I harvested the mud over the summer! Here are some all round views. Time to start working on a base next.

Emhar Mk IV - 1/72 Scale

And here is the finished result in situ. The folded tarp is made from the same foil. The chain was painted the same as the tracks with Humbrol track colour and a wash of black. But then dry brushed with bright orange. The beam was just given a wash of dirty brown to bring out the grain, and the...

Emhar Mk IV - 1/72 Scale

Evening all. Thanks for all the comments. The last obstacle was making the unditching beam. I'm afraid I didn't take any progress shots but here are the raw materials. I used a catering match - roughly twice the length and width of a standard match (shown for comparison). This was then faced...

Emhar Mk IV - 1/72 Scale

Thanks guys! This is it with the weathering pretty much done. I used dried mud from the garden and a bit of crushed chalk whizzed up in a coffee grinder. The resulting powder was mixed with white glue and stippled on with an old paintbrush. The streaking effect is thinned very dark brown enamel.

Emhar Mk IV - 1/72 Scale

Painting done. Unditching beam to make next, then weathering. I decided to go for a dirty looking greenish khaki - a mix of Vallejo Brown violet, English uniform and Russian uniform. Looks about right to my eye at least! Pinwashed with black. The recognition panels were hand painted, the only...

Emhar Mk IV - 1/72 Scale

It went together quickly and easily with no major problems. I bored out the gun barrels with the point of a craft knife, then undercoated it with dark earth from a rattle can.

Emhar Mk IV - 1/72 Scale

Evening all. I haven't posted anything in a while but this is what I've been playing with recently - the Emhar 1/72 Mk IV Male. It's not much of a kit as the sprue shot shows. About thirty parts in total but it's got some nice detail.

    Tommy's War Lewis gunner

Morning all! I haven't posted anything for a while but this is a figure I've just done for a group build on another site. The Tommy's War Lewis Gunner - painted with a mixture of Vallejo acrylics and Humbrol enamels. I made a few minor changes from the original - I gave him a helmet cover from...

    The Rearguard

This'll be my next project. Based on JP Beadle's famous picture The Rearguard depicting the 95th on the Retreat to Vigo in 1809. I ordered a couple of these the other day from Tradition of London. If they turn out ok then I'll probably end up up getting the rest of the set and putting them...

    Airfix Bedford MWD 1/72

Afternoon all. A nice little build this, it went together beautifully, virtually no flash, and just a few ejector marks most of which are hidden anyway. I undercoated the whole thing in Humbrol 29 from a rattle can before building, and then brush painted it as I went along. Mostly Humbrol...

Braille scale fun - Vickers Mk VI

Picked up this Airfix Mk VI Light Tank for a fiver the other day, so I've been mucking about with paint mixes trying to get Khaki Green No 3 and Dark Green No 4 for the two colour BEF scheme. Mike Starmer recommends Revell paints to mix these colours. I've only got the Humbrol equivalents so I...

    Hello from the West Country.

Hi all. I'm another refugee from Milmod. Like many of us I suppose, I caught the modelling bug as a kid. My first ever build was an Airfix Spitfire which I bought in the Naafi in Paderborn at the age of about 7. It cost me the princely sum of 1 Deutsche Mark! Then in my teens I discovered girls...
