AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

That’s the build phase all done with the addition of the tools and cables. Now for detail painting and decals. I will add the aerials when this is done so I don’t take my eye out. There won’t be much weathering as I’m pretty sure that when not in use the crews kept them clean?

Might be of interest to the figure painters, this is a brand new mob released by WH that I had on pre order. I really liked the look as they’re sort of a steam punk/ Victorian diving suit look. Really nice little multi part figures.

    Pledge Polish

I’m sure many on here will have used Pledge polish as a clear coat in its various incarnations. Some time ago it changed from its clear form to the milky coloured fragrant smelling version. The other night I was watching a video from Flory models where he was showing its latest version back as a...

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

I now remember why I concentrated on aircraft and figures, tank tracks I took some advice that was offered and only fitted whats in view. Time now to start adding the details and finish up the painting.

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

Slow progress due to work but it’s getting there, trying to get the mantles to stick, tracks being built up then got to painting these side skirts. There have been several times when I’ve wondered what were they thinking, latterly the turret mounted machine gun, 6 parts 5 of which are plastic...

    Too late for my build?

As some of you might know I’m currently building an AFV Club Centurion. The build phase is done and I’m now chucking paint at it but something has been niggling away at the back of my mind that something was missing. I put the bottom part of the box inside the lid and don’t usually let the box...

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

Quick update, started undercoating today using GW chaos black, hopefully more time tomorrow to do some more.

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

A little more progress on the turret but had to stop as our dog needed a vets visit, really wish they would pull a knife on you so I feel like you’ve been robbed correctly. Anyway back to the kit, as I said at the start of this project it’s a first ever ARV Club kit, some of you will be used to...

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

A bit more progress made and getting used to how they design their kits. Bits of cleaning up to do then decided in a moment of madness to remove the moulded on control cables on the turret and replace with lead wire. The clear parts on the glacis plate are where some track links go, no idea why...

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

Progress is slow but there’s no real hurry for this build. I was almost caught out by a slightly misleading instruction. Part H21 is clearly shown locating in the oblong mark on the hull, clearly in the next diagram that’s not right but I did notice it. I recently saw a completed model that had...

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

A bit more progress and has Scratchbuilder (Mike) pointed out the grills are a bit fiddly. Still getting used to the way this company has you assemble the kit, quite a few larger parts have no positive locating points but I’m getting there.

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

Cracked on with the suspension and a few other additions to the hull. Leaving the wheels off for now to make painting easier. A couple of quite fragile bits gone on the back but invisible repairs carried out on them, looking at the bits to come I’m certain they won’t be the only ones to require...

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

Got chance to make a start on the build today. It starts with the workable suspension units, first job was to paint the shiny brass springs. As Mike pointed out some of the smaller points do fit nicely without melting the pins.

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk5/2 with 105mm gun

Its been a while now since I've built a large tank model and have been looking at this kit for quite a while now. Once I've straightened out my desk I will make a start. The only additional thing I've bought are some tracks to replace the one piece kit ones. The model is supplied with working...

My last completed figures as I step back into a bit of plastic welding. These are a unit of Stormcast Annihilators. They were fun to paint with their large shields and lightening running in them and in the hammer heads.

Another first for me in the shape of a post war British tank. Never built an AFV club kit either.

Unfortunately during a quiet period at work I inadvertently ended up on an auction site and made a couple of purchases. One was a post war British tank and the other was this big lad. After completing the large scale marine I thought he needed a friend. This is a Necron Flayed One. If they...

Continuing to work through my collection of figures I've completed another. This is an Ultramarines Lieutenant, this guy has forgone his combi weapon and is dispatching his enemies with combat knives, even wearing part of one on his right arm as additional armour. His latest victim lying under...

    Mick’s Academy 1/32 Sopwith Camel F1(papa 695’s Bi-plane GB

Firstly many thanks to Ian for getting this GB off the ground. I’ve enjoyed putting this one together and even with very few parts it’s still taken me a while. I know it’s not accurate when it comes to its rigging but they’ve made it much easier than using turnbuckles etc. The instructions...
