    Academy 1/32 Sopwith Camel F.1

After finishing my day shifts I’m back at it. Ignoring the misleading instructions I’ve got the tail stringing done. Just need to touch up the paint when I’m finished with the glueing

And so the stringing begins. The instructions would have you putting the thread in prior to closing up the fuselage but that would be a nightmare when the painting starts. Some of the holes in the fuselage are directly opposite each other so I’m attaching ez line to a thin plastic rod and...

Decals now on, these are really strong but lay down nicely. Clear coat on to seal them then I’ll do a bit of weathering before the string.

A little more progress but night shift and reduced nursing duties causing delays. For mounting the top wing and struts there are large mounting points but just a little too large allowing movement in the struts but it looks ok now. For some reason fitting the engine cowling was also a pig and...

    Academy 1/32 Sopwith Camel F.1

Bit the bullet and weighed in with the hairy sticks. Only just starting with the wooden area but so far so good I think

Welcome to Mr Bowcat's Racing Car & Bike GB. Chat thread

Well if you’re going to try something new then go in hard, this will be my casualty

    How do you?

Clean up small parts that have to come off the spruce. I’m always worried they will ping out out of tweezers so there must be a better way?

Now buttoned up and one or two minor fit problems and seams to sort but it’s going ok

    Academy 1/32 Sopwith Camel F.1

In between nursing duties I’ve managed a couple of quick trips to the desk. The instrument panel is not accurate but looks the part. I’ve also made some progress on the cockpit, unfortunately the light was going so the pic isn’t great.

Right down to business. Firstly update on swmbo home after 12 hours in the hospital and finding it very difficult to move but that should improve over the next few days and hoping her meds will keep her pain level tolerable. Now to this kit, interesting start as the cockpit floor has deep sink...

    Academy 1/32 Sopwith Camel F.1

Firstly a big thank you to Ian for sorting this one. I’ve now attached the pics of my proposed victim but it will be a slow start. As I type this I’m waiting for a call from the hospital to go collect my wife who has had surgery today. I am hoping to get it started though even during my...

Another fill in complete, close up pics are terrible for showing up bits you’ve forgotten to clean up anyway here’s my Ultramarine Bladeguard Captain. I have a couple more to start but I’m trying to finish a model railway loco re spray.

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Something new to try when figure painting. I use a wet palette but have seen quite a few painters using them

Another one done, this is an Ultramarine chaplain. Got this with a couple of other figures but this was broken into 4 pieces, can’t see the joins ;) :smiling:

As I’m finishing a figure off this is my next character figure. I’m going to have to tackle this one as several separate parts. There’s the figure itself plus the head I’ve chosen. The base which also contains a destroyed Necron warrior, there’s the huge shield with its attached skeleton and...

No kits underway so to my box of figures to reduce the number. This one is an Ultramarine Bladeguard Ancient. First time I’ve tried GW basing snow. These certainly get you concentrating on brush painting.

    Airfix 1/35 Ferret Scout Car

All done and this is a great little kit. Minimal weathering as I’m sure vehicles are kept clean after use. Plenty of scope for those who want to add more detail but I think it looks great oob.

Airfix 1/35 Ferret scout car Mk2

Paint on and some detail painting started. A couple of bits to attach then first clear coat. Then decals and clear parts to finish.
