    The Motorbike Thread

Well, its been a while since I posted anything on this thread, but I did get the CCM sorted out and I've enjoyed using it for commuting to work all summer..... Nick

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

So the next area for attention was the door cards. As they come these are pretty poor..... The filled holes are where the rubbery roll cage was meant to attach. After looking for some online images, I progressed to this... The mouldings towards the top of the door card are meant to be pull...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Moving on to the engine bay, I opened up the end of the air intake which was solid.... I then went ahead and added some HT leads from copper wire with fine aluminium tube for the fittings. I also added a bit of detail to the oil filler cap... And I added a rudimentary coil onto the...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Well, apologies for having gone awol for so long. Anyway, I have been doing some work on the Renault and that roll cage was the first thing to tackle. I set to with some brass rod... First go at images on the new forum, and doing this from my phone so hope it's alright. Next up were the foot...

    New broom and all that......

ok, various things have kept me from posting for a while (mainly in my own head, I think), but now hopefully I can get back to being a bit more active once I become a bit more conversant with the new format. John has kindly amended my forum name with the changeover to the new platform - my old...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Managed to make a bit of a start.... Rear body panel has been glued in place and reinforced with some sprue goo... These horrible ejector towers have been removed from the inner wheel arches... Much nicer... And these plus a couple of other parts have been fixed to the floorpan...

No progress on my build this weekend and I know it's not a racer, but...... Nick

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Welcome to my entry in this Group Build. Its Heller’s 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini; a kit dating back to 1968 according to Scalemates. The Renault 8 was launched in 1962 - the same year as me funnily enough – and was a rear-engined, four doored family car, initially sporting a 956cc four cylinder...

Welcome to Mr Bowcat's Racing Car & Bike GB. Chat thread

Well, with the start date rushing upon us, I'm hoping this group build will kick-start me into being able to re-engage with this happy place once again. So thanks Bob for setting this one up. My chosen victim: I'll hopefully get the introductory post up next week.... Nick

    Thoughts on 1/144 scale.

I have only built this Revell landing ship in 1/144, but I do have a few larger planes in the stash. Perhaps we should have a 1/144 group build some time.. Nick

    What's on the Bench 2024

I've been tinkering with some spoked wheels. This is off an Italeri (Protar rebox) 1/9 scale Yamaha - first attempt and quite pleased with how its turned out. If I can get a decent result with the rear wheel then I'll have to think about building the kit! I've spent several weeks on and off just...

Any metal and punk fans out there?

That's the one... Yup... Just had to play them again! I blame John Peel and his daily 10pm show. Here's the album... And I also have this slightly later 7 inch... Nick.

    Superglue question

I've tried a couple of the modelling branded types, and while I found they worked well, with my build rate I threw most of it away as it went hard..... For the last few years I've been using this: One comes with every set of Oxford Hot Grips and its really not what you want for gluing...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Deadline day. The build has limped a little further in the right direction. Hoping to get the top wing fitted later and then hopefully get some pictures in the completed section tomorrow. After that I might use the airframe for a bit of rigging practice but no guarantees on any pictures of...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Well, deadline day is approaching and I haven't forgotten about this. Here's where she's at currently. Getting quite fragile now with the smaller parts being fitted. Thanks for looking in... Nick

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Ordered this for my Grandson (7). Turned up just in time! He's got a few of the smaller Quick build kits under his belt now so this big one will be a good measure of how close he is to tackling one that needs gluing together. Nick

    Nick's Airfix 1/35 30cwt truck - Pete's Wheeled Cargo Movers GB

Well, here she is, a pretty new release from Airfix that builds up quite easily into a nice sturdy model. I went for the three-colour desert scheme in memory of my Grandfather who spent the war years as a baker in North Africa and Italy. I like to think he may have travelled around in something...

Nick's Airfix 1/35 WWII British Army 30-CWT Truck

Apologies again for the big gap between posts, but various things have kept me away from the bench lately. I have however managed to get this one to the point that I'm calling it done. After final assembly, I got the minimal decals on and then made some attempts at weathering and toning down the...

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Been on a trip up t'North to visit our daughter and she gave me this as a little early Christmas pressie. My son-in -law is the engineer that designed the 'Spitfire Roundabout' installation in Blackpool so there is a bit of a family connection. Inside its the regular Airfix starter set with some...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Managed to get the upper surfaces painted. Went with Tamiya colours NATO Green and NATO Black as they were to hand. Pondering on a clear coat of some kind, but there are not too many decals to go on this one. Thanks for looking in.. Nick.
