    Heller Citroen Fourgon HY build

Inspired by this thread so I bought the AK kit, it's arriving tomorrow. Fancied something a bit different and this looks like an interesting subject. @Andy T Send me a PM and i'll tell where I got it from Seems a bit rude to post links to other shops on here

    Knowing/Learning when to stop!

Oils are much more forgiving and stay workable for a considerable time after application. Easy to remove or blend in with odourless thinner, I use wedge shaped make up sponges or a soft brush.

The rise of Warhammer, et al, V "regular" traditional scale modelling?

I got a Warhammer starter kit which included a figure, dinosaur looking thing and a book. Bought it when I was on holiday last year in Alkmaar, NL for about ten euros. Put the figure and critter together then tried to get my head round it from the book. Gave it a go, but made no sense to me at...

    Heller Citroen Fourgon HY build

There is a camper version rotting away at the back of a house a few hundred yards away. Its been there for ages, if I was ten years younger I would be very tempted to ask if it was for sale.

    MK IV Male 1/35 Tamiya

Finally got it the colour I wanted, basically Brown with a very faint hint of Olive Green Overall ABT 502 oil wash mix of Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna and Industrial Earth over a base coat of Vallejo Model Air Khaki Brown. Got to decide now on the next weathering stage, thinking a smattering of...

Tamiya Extra Thin, whats the difference?

I just bought three 750ml bottles of Leffe Brune for a tenner from Ocado. These big bottles work out much cheaper than the smaller 330ml size. But do they really because they don't seem to last that much longer than the little ones.

Tamiya Extra Thin, whats the difference?

So I spend about a tenner or so at most a year on Extra Thin. Won't exactly save me a fortune buying chemicals in industrial size quantities. Not very helpful either with keeping our local model shops in business. Talk about skin a turd to save a pound

    Hot rod Iwatta airbrush

Sorry, I didn't explain what I meant very well. Bit wary of loosening crud up with the cleaner and then blowing that through into the nozzle. The larger Eclipse nozzle can get muck stuck Insde it unlike the smaller screw in type.

    Hot rod Iwatta airbrush

I try to avoid blowing anything through to the nozzle and cap. Just clean the cup out with water and an old brush then empty it into a waste pot. All the front bits then go into a small jar of cleaner before cleaning and rinsing them off in clean water. The cup and needle passage are cleaned too...

    Hot rod Iwatta airbrush

I use an Eclipse and withdraw the needle from the front then re-insert it from the back Before removing it I pull it back a bit before taking off the front caps and nozzle. Always seemed the most sensible method to me, no point dragging anything back into the body. Pushing it back in from the...

    New hobby started

I had an aquarium when my daughter was young, that was also a Fluval Still in the shed somewhere with the filtration unit and loads of other bits. (Free for anyone wanting to collect near Cambridge) We seemed to get an endless supply of Guppies, always had a full nursery net/pen full. Not...

Review - Dspiae (ES-A) reciprocating sander

I got one for Christmas too, came in handy for the 140 or so wheel parts that needed sanding on my latest build.

Tamiya Extra Thin, whats the difference?

Low odour is excellent, maybe slightly longer to stick, but its minimal. So much less stinky and my go to glue from now on.

    Choice of airbrush cleaner

I agree that its best to use the cleaner that is appropriate for the paint being used. Conversely I often strip my airbrushes down, no reason it should damage them if the proper tools are used and care is taken. Good way to ensure seals are in good condition with no paint is leaking back into...

    Shuttleworth Model Show

Living fairly close I looked at this model show last year, but the admission fee was about 20 quid It did include Museum entrance, but having already seen the collection I wasn't interested in a revisit.
