I will do a complete thread soon but, for now, one quick pic.

It’s exactly what it needs Jim. The good thing about Flory washes is how they can be cleaned off completely with a wet cloth. I have not used a wet cloth but a dry one to give a dusty patina over the surface. In places where the wash pooled and a mark is left after wiping with a dry cloth...

The first stage of weathering this one. Applying a wash. In this case I am using the Flory washes. I am tinning down the Dark Dirt wash a little to make it less ‘stark’ with some Light wash, two parts dark dirt to one white. These are clay washes and you just brush it all over the model...

I had rather bad jet lag so I have not spent much time at the bench this week but I still hope to finish this off this week. I have done the markings, mainly with 1 Man Army masks, but I did have to use some of the decals. Fortunately, these are the first Trumpeter decals I have ever had that...

Just reporting in, back from the USA and ready to get on with this build. I have got to mask up and paint the markings next, then do some washes and some detail painting. I am now really looking forward to getting in with the HobbyBoss 1/32 Liberator as my next build but must get this...

This is the last post on this for a couple of weeks, when I get back from the USA. I have masked up for the black and sprayed it. There is a little touching up to do here and there but overall I am quite happy with this. When I am back I will need to do the first stage of masking up for...

Calling this of you across ‘the pond’

Saturday I will be flying to Minneapolis St Paul where my lady’s family from Wisconsin will be meeting us. I am there for two weeks visiting and attending her family celebrations. Whilst my lady has some things she wants to do there we will have plenty of time to explore this part of the...

Masked up ready to paint the horizontal control surfaces silver and the exhaust system Pale Burnt Metal and Burnt Iron. Below with masking removed Masked up again to paint some panels with Titanium. Maskes removed. Thanks to how MRP dries and cures so quickly this was all done in one...

Help with Cements and other oddities...

I have used the Neo and I am not impressed with that as a masking fluid There are better out there. I also have the full range of oil brushers. They are just an easy mess free way of using oil paint for weathering. One use for these is ‘oil dotting’ in which you dot your painted surface...

The first overall metal coat of Dark Aluminium. Looking rather unrealistic as just a solid coat. I will start correcting that tomorrow with other metal shades differentiating panels.

One characteristic of MRP paint is how fine it is, hence the great smooth finish. The primers really do pick out any flaws doing exactly what you want them to do but there is a downside, it is so fine that it picks up imperfections in the plastic, such as the whorls from where the liquid plastic...

Another coat of primer. The seams look OK now but I will do another check. What I need, however for my NMF scheme is an even surface and, as you can see due to the underlying plastic, the sheen varies. I will therefore do a final sand with a polishing stick, a very light primer coat and then...

No matter how carefully you sand and fill seams primer always shows more work. Last night I went over any imperfections with Mr Dissolved Putty and, this morning I sanded them down, working down sanding sponge grades. I then did a final all over sand with 2500 grit sanding sponge. I need to...

The canopy parts have ‘come through’ OK so I have progressed the build with a black primer coat. I will check for flaws tomorrow, deal with them, reprime, check, reprime again if necessary, then use a polishing sponge to make sure the surface is perfectly smooth.

The canopy engineering and fit is terrible. I have been really struggling with this and it shows in the condition of the parts. I managed to get one side panel into place but the other simply does not fit, either it’s out of line at the front or it’s out at the back and in half hour of...

It’s been fun and games getting the nose weight in. I used plastic card to close off the rear of the gun bay, a previous picture showed it when half done. Then I filled almost the whole front cavity. As you can see that’s not nearly enough. I filled the cavity in sections, dry fitting the...

I have also used some plastic sheet to create a well in the nose to keep liquid gravity away from the gun ports. It will need sealing with white glue.

Yes Tim, thanks. I am aware. I positioned it there because the instructions say 60gms in the nose cone but there is not really enough room, hence trying it a little further back, where I did. I have started fitting some ballast and also attached the panel. As you can see it needs those bits...

A quick one. I measured our 60grams of liquid gravity into a shot glass and balanced that on the nose! Perfect. I now know how much I need to use. A bit too much to fit into the nose itself (as Trumpy suggest) but it clearly works a bit further back.

I have started work on the gun bay and nose section. It’s times like this that I am so glad I like to have the panels closed. Dry fitting shows that the gun bay and panels won’t fit at all so I have had to cut parts right back. At least the panels themselves fit, as long as the internal...
