What to do with completed models?

What to do with disposal of old models depends on a number of factors. Subject matter, what they are made from, how good are they? The more fragile a model is does not bode well for shipping. We have all seen the lengths that aircraft modellers take to protect a model when taking it to a show...

    Heller Citroen Fourgon HY build

The HY. What a classic vehicle that epitomizes the French knack for utilitarian commercial transport. Nice subject for a kit. I can remember that Wheeler Dealers HY build. I used to like watching Ed China in the workshop. What is he up to now ? I understand he was not happy with the...

    Tug Boat..... Revell

Fit the box scale was how it was back in those days Paul. It took a while for the makers to get their act together !! I wish you well with it when you get around to it. Have seen some good builds of this old kit, including a very good diorama of two derelicts, but cannot remember what forum...

Papa695s Italeri 1/24 Ford Transit Van.

Great to see the encouragement and love going into making this model. Having a grandson myself with cerebral palsy can appreciate seeing this.

    Tug Boat..... Revell

Dating back to the fifties, what do you expect ? The scale is not odd at all. It's Revell and other kit manufacturers famous fit the box scale from that era. Everyone knows that ! LOL !

    Shuttleworth Model Show

Wrap up well lads ! Wnat a crazy time of year to have a model show in a freezing cold draughty hanger ! April or October just out of their display season might be better weather wise.

    Flying scotsman

Discussing the well known rai!say modelling gauges is missing the point, the idea being that a 1/35 th scale model would appeal to enthusiasts and modell makers looking for decent sized display model that is compatible with plethora of figures, vehicles rtf in that scale. There are some German...

    Flying scotsman

4 years on, a further thought. Wouldn't it be nice if Airfix made a highly detailed 1/35th scale Flying Scotsman plastic kit. As they are owned by Hornby, they already have shed loads of information on the subject. Also, 1/35th would give the kit compatibility with lots of figures and vehicles...

    Hot rod Iwatta airbrush

Like I said. They were probably designed for photo retouching originally hence the very limited capacity, but fine figure work might be where they could be utilised. As for spraying a 1/32nd scale Lancaster with one, now that would be a challenge ! LOL Come to think about it, by ratio, one...

    Hot rod Iwatta airbrush

I note that gravity feed can be a problem for detail painting due to the cup obstructing the users vision. There are however, gravity feed airbrushes where instead of a cup on top, the bodyshell itself has a small chamber in the top of it. The drawback of course is the very small amount of paint...

    Shuttleworth Model Show

Show is a week away from this post date. Went last year. Not sure whether to go again. Depends on the temperature. If brass monkeys weather again I will possibly give it a miss. Getting too old for that sort of discomfort for a whole day !

    Original 1960’s Airfix HMS Prince

This excellent build is quite timely so will be inspiring to model makers wanting to build a model of this particular ship. Airfix has just re popped this kit for 2026 after many years hiatus.

    Weathering Misnomer

We all use the term 'Weathering' don't we ? But the reality is that it is mostly used by model makers for for describing the simulation of wear and tear and things just getting dirty in use. In reality, something like an abandoned vehicle or a building stood out in the elements for a prolonged...

    The state of things.

Hobbycraft needs to catch them first. identify them as the perpetrator, not bother with the police but charge them for every kit defaced. If they refuse then get the police to charge them with criminal damage.
