    Panther Ausf A.

I've tried many times to get an 'authentic' old war time colour film feel to some of my model pics. I stumbled on this one by accident. Whilst turning these pics to B & W to compare against the war time image I was asked for the model's colour pic. Not wanting to publish the original due to an...

    Panther Ausf A.

Inspiration from images of '234' from 2./Pz.Rgt.3 sat in the Saint-Lambert-sur-Dive dump, Normandy 1944 After many, many moons this little project has finally been completed. This is the 20-year-old Dragon Ausf A kit #6168 (also 2004 Re-boxed 60th anniversary kit #6244) Tracks are Masterclub...

    Kitty Litter

After many, many moons I can finally call this little project complete. Just B & W pics for now to compare it to the Panzerwrecks image I took as inspiration. The kit is the twenty-year-old Dragon #6168. Spruced up with Atak Zimmerit, a metal barrel whom I forget where from, Eureka tow cable and...

    Los's 1/35 Trumpeter Sd.Kfz 7 KM m11

This was my first attempt at this kit. It’s a grubby beaten-up over weathered mess now but well worth keeping on so I don't mess up new builds with techniques I haven’t yet tried and tested. The tracks don't fit on the sprockets at all well as I didn’t know about the 'offset' fix and as I glued...

    Los's 1/35 Trumpeter Sd.Kfz 7 KM m11

This will be an out of the box build apart from some resin road wheels.

Dave's Half track GB Chat thread.

Just seen this GB. This will be my build: What section do we post up our build threads?

    Italian mountain road (Spring 1945)

Thought I best continue this thread over here. Initially started out as a first 3D 1/35 kit build of a little Flak trailer but as it progressed it got hooked up to its towing vehicle (Sd.Kfz 7) and then onto a little scenic base for them both. Initial thread and build start for the base can be...

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

Managed a little more time at the bench over the last week and although the trailer hasn't been touched, I did manage to progress with the mountain road base. Styrofoam is a great sculpting material and a medium I have starting dabbling in a whole lot more recently. I’ve made a few small simple...

    Workbenches...

My workbench journey has taken almost 15 years and what I would recommend wherever you build, is ensure you have good lighting. It's probably THE most important thing to consider so get the best you can afford. The tabletop overhead LED types are perfect. As for work surfaces a decent table with...

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

As the weather has been way too hot in the mancave (32 degrees C) for any paintwork over the last week I figured it might well be worth starting on a base instead. I had always intended the vehicles to be displayed on a North Italian mountain road and had already sketched out some ideas. Now to...

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

Before I start any serious weathering I figured it might be a good idea to get the self propelled Flak out that would be pulling it. Both have been painted in Mission Models acrylics and allthough both received a seperate final homebrew lightened mix of the 'late Dunkelgelb' they are not a bad...

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

Progress report on the little trailer. First, two wet VMS satin varnish coats and then an Abteilung oil pin wash. Managed to get a few accessories up to the same stage. Plenty of oil clean up/blending still required.

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

Some progress pics of the painted trailer. Really looking forward to applying a pinwash. It is a step I really enjoy.

A cold and weary Opel Blitz

One of my first attempts at a winter white wash. 1/35 Cyber Hobby Opel Blitz (early type)

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

A quick update after a late session. Although I'm  still finding more of those pesky printing support nubs which is starting to drive me crazy it was time to choose colours for the base coat. As it will be pulled by a Sd.Kfz 7 self propelled Flak 43 which is already completed in plain...

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

With the hot temps abating, progress continues. After some additional tidying up and with all the additional accessories prepped I give it another coat of primer. This time Mr Surfacer 1500 and it laid down much better. The 3D printed detail really pops under paint but it also clearly shows a...

    Micro drills advice

I am currently looking for a replacement set of hand held micro drills and looking for any recommendations for some quality ones, ideally with larger shanks that can be used easily by hand. I have some micro drills for using with a dremel but obviously the smaller you get the more difficult...

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

So, how does it look under paint? Well not great TBH. The finish has not at all been helped by the rattle can primer, drying in places before it hit the model, I guess that must be the heat as the Halfords stuff usually lays down nice and smooth. As for the printed material there are a few...

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

Work has continued populating the roof box with scratchbuilt tarps, a spare wheel and other crew paraphanalia. Along with the interior gear, most items will need painting seperatly as decals need to be added to many of them. The very last step is to add all the tiny delicate items and TBH...

    1/35 Sd.Ah 56/57 Flak ammunition trailer (3D printed)

Work continues on building up the first of the two little trailers. Lots of small, fine 3D printed details like door locks, clasps and padlocks will be added at the very end of the build to avoid damage. The body and chassis are connected and the mudguards/fenders have been added. Opting to...
