Just spent ages layering dark, dull colour over the exhaust areas. I still think it needs a bit more dark near the exhaust itself!! What do you think? (Not even going to ask ‘E’, Eileen - SWMBO!!) During a very busy day I did manage to finish off the initial wash on the SK5. I also attached, (finally) the tail rotor. Attacked the king today with a wash! Completed 75% and have mixed feelings over the result. Wash used was the Vallejo black wash. I settled on a method whereby I painted the wash over the rivet lines and general dividing lines, such as breaks in the airframe!! Then I washed over the whole area...- Waspie

Finished with all the decals! Repainted the exhaust bodge a darker shade, I'm happier with the result. It will be covered in exhaust detritus in a few days!! Today's progress was slow and damaging!!! (Minor damage). The first thing I tried today was fit the decal aft of the port exhaust. The problem is that there is a bulge the decal has to blend around. The main problem is the decal isn't flexible to work itself around the bulge. As I said, 'tried'...- Waspie

Didn't have it on the Mk2/5/6. ASW Kings Rick. We had handles in the top left and right corners of the cabin door. As per my screen shot below. The handles you show were fitted to the HAR versions. Probably 771 cabs. Never flew in them so can't swear!!- Waspie

Not the day it should have been!!!
Should have made it back to the bench today to recommence the decals on the Sea King. The kitchen painting was finished and all I had to do was replace the bibs and bobs back to their respective places on walls. A few unit doors replaced and the glass kitchen hood put back. THAT was the plan... -
