    Airfix HM Bark Endeavour 1/120

Time for a progress report on this sailing ship build. The hull was painted with Humbrol acrylic 186 above the rubbing strake and 70 below. All brush painted as I don't have facilities for spraying. Those Humbrol paints which are now supplied in the dropper bottle are excellent - Thanks to John...

    Airfix HM Bark Endeavour 1/120

The Airfix Endeavour Bark is a kit which has been stored in the bedroom wardrobe for a while and it was decided to mark a start after completing Revell's HMS Bounty. The two halves of the hull needed a fair amount of time spending to clean up the mould seams. I was really concerned about...

    Most pleasurable builds

My top three first - a scratch built r/c model of a River Thames Customs and Excise Cutter second - Revell 1:90 "Nina" third - r/c gaff rigged sailing yacht

    Latest Acquisitions (2022)

Bought this 2002 book, brand new from Sarik (who usually sell R/C plans). Perhaps the book is dated by modern standards, but still makes good "bedtime reading".

    Newbie to forum

There is a good information about the build of the Airfix 1/48 Seafire by Tony Canfora in this Airfix publication from a few years ago. Sorry for the late reply, I don't always notice aircraft being a modeller of "floaty things".

    HMS Bounty - Revell 1/110 - Finished

Some photographs of my Revell HMS Bounty, now completed. Thanks for following the build in the 'Ships Under Construction' thread, the likes and comments were much appreciated. Allen Dewire, in the build thread, you kindly mentioned the figures/crew, which I was unsure about using. I decided to...

    Spots on the Internet (2022)

Set for release on 30th May is the Chesapeake Bay Oyster Boat from Atlantis kits of New York, USA. The kit was originally by Pyro and later by Lindberg.

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

W.I.P. update - the model now has the "laundry hung out". The sails are the kit supplied plastic ones given a wash of acrylic white with a spot of ochre mixed in. Still to do - there is further running rigging and the swivel canons need gluing in place. I am unsure about the crew and the kit...

    Bird Watching a Relaxing Hobby

Used to get a couple of Sparrowhawks in the area a few years ago. Never managed to photograph them closely, I did manage this distance shot of the male back in 2017. Reading about them, the female is a much larger bird than the male and much more deadly.

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

The foremast sails are now done and it's time to move on to the ones on the mainmast. With the sails it becomes a different model.

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

Thanks for all the good feedback, this model has been an absolute pleasure to build from start to present. No money has been added to the 'swear box' during the build! John, with the rigging, I tend to avoid super-glue on the knots as it doesn't give time to adjust the tension. Either plain PVA...

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

The rigging has now been completed to the stage prior to fixing the sails in place. There is then some further running rigging, the swivel canons to glue in place and finally add the crew.

    Bird Watching a Relaxing Hobby

Ring Necked Parakeets (which have already been mentioned). Two were near us between September and November last year. They seemed to like the neighbour's apples on their trees and then ventured to our shed feeder. Anyone know if they will return or was it a stop-over, perhaps to feed on the...

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

Some progress has been made with the standing rigging, there is still more to do before the running rigging and sails. Despite there being far better builds than mine when I look on the internet, I'm really enjoying building this kit. Thanks for looking Tony

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

Bit of a change of plan with this model, decided to build using the kit supplied sails and shrouds/ratlines. After spending time making my own shrouds/ratlines, they looked awful and I decided to use the kit supplied ones. These are a little on the heavy side but they are acceptable (my...

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

Still making slow and steady progress with this lovely little sailing ship kit. The current work being carried out is on the masts. The wooldlings (heavy rope bands, on some ships they were iron), around the foremast were tricky but nevertheless an interesting little job to do. The mainmast and...

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

The summer months always seems to slow progress on the model making part of life. Grass to cut, weeds to clear painting to do and and a whole host of other things which "life" throws at us. Moan over, here is the latest progress with this Revell miniature. Deck canons fitted, side windows...

    Latest Acquisitions (2021)

I'm getting the thread back to the topic, Tim. My good lady bought me this, guess it keeps me quiet and not "under the feet". First impressions looking inside the box are favourable, despite it being an re-issue of an old kit. Really like the inclusion of a tool to make the shrouds/ratlines and...

Susan Calman - TV Series, Grand Week by the Sea.

Anyone watching the new Channel 5 series, Grand Week by the Sea? The first programme was to Great Yarmouth and included a visit to the Merrivale model village. The second programme was a trip to Brighton and a visit to the Brighton Toy Museum, it is worth watching to see the museum's historic...

    Revell 1:110 HMS Bounty

Thanks, Tim, John and Andrew for taking the time to add such good positive feedback and thanks to Steve for the information about the book and the two boxes of "goodies" which the postman brought. As John says "this is what a modelling forum is all about, helping one another". Should have...
