    1/48 ICM - He 111H-3

Update and some pics. One of the most enjoyable, detailed kits I've built. Not over fussy or parts so fragile they fall apart just by looking at them. Everything went together well, so far. Then a huge problem with the upper wing half. The problem is that the engine mounts on a frame and...

    1/48 ICM - He 111H-3

It's bigger than I thought and so many sprues/parts it's mind boggling but in a good way. Love the bomber colours but not sure I'll attempt the amount of wear on the panel edges that you can see on the box. Mine will be on its 2nd or 3rd mission so still pretty clean. Recommended by Dave and I...

    Eduard 1/48 SE.5 Night Fighter

Utter pain at times but I'm quite pleased with the finished plane

    Eduard 1/48 SE.5a Night Fighter

There were a few times when I nearly threw this in the bin. Some of the parts were so small they were beyond any purpose. Particularly the large amount of PE. Most of which was minute, smaller than a full stop, so in those cases I used aluminium or steel metal paint to create the same effect...

    Eduard 1/48 SE.5a Night Fighter

Got this from Creative at a bargain price. Always loved WWI planes with a passion but often the models are a bit basic, as were the planes of course. But time to have a go. Boy there are so many tiny parts. A lot of the PE is unusable its so small and a dash of steel or aluminimum paint will do...

    Decent Magazines ?

There appear to be a few on Amzon which are subscriptons, mainly for Kindle. Scale Aircraft Modelling for instance. Anyone here read any magazines ?

    Revel IL-2 Stormovik 1/48

Finally got there. Surprisingly well made kit with hardly any issues. I chose the winter camo but with the white it made for a difficult paint job. But again, in the flesh, It looks OK and I'm pleased with it. Nice plane with large wing surfaces all over and some nice detail. Shown with canopy...

    1/48 Tamiya FW190 AB/AB8 R2

Forgot to do this as I built it but it was a very straight forward, well fitted together kit. Really exceptional. Close ups don't do justice to what was a fairly complex paint job. My first go at mottling as well. I used a brush and to me its OK. Not sophisticated and looking at some pictures...

    Revel IL-2 Stormovik 1/48

Ready for primer. A small amount of filler and putty but overall not too bad a fit. Undercarriage was very fiddly and a bit of a pain but got there in the end And the inside of the fuselage before sticking together. I tidied the fine paint up a bit after this picture and it looked pretty...

    Revel IL-2 Stormovik 1/48

One thing I discovered already is how much the Russians like green. I mean, like it a lot. Everything is green in the cockpit. but I have used the etched seatbelts from my Tamiya Spitfire I had left over rather than the decals. Petrol tank looks much better and sharply finished in the flesh...

    Revel IL-2 Stormovik 1/48

I just loved the shape of this and the Russians designed some interesting aircraft. Managed to drop, without realising it the rear cockpit canopy which being clear I couldn't see and stood on it. Luckily I found the three bits and stuck them together with PVA and then looked at the camo...

    Revell 1:48 - IL-2 Sturmovik

Just received this in a damaged box sale and its an interesting aircraft and I do like the ones that are a bit quirky at least IMO. Looking forward to building it and it looks Ok in the box but I expect the usual Revell gaps but thats OK. Never built a Russian aircraft before

    Isopropyl Alchohol

As with the usual looney tunes panic buying there appears to be a shortage of IPA. What there is is an outrageous price. I have been cleaning my airbrush with water and then a run through with IPA. Is the only alternative airbrush cleaner, expensive again, or just clean with water then every now...

    Trumpeter USS North Carolina BB-55 - 1/700

Pine edging to frame the dio to be done but the actual painting etc is done. First is the original attempt which I liked but thought was a bit OTT on wakes. I love the detuned version 1. Experimented as its my first dio 2. Then I removed the height of the wakes behind the bow one and...

Railings for 1/700 Trumpeter USS North Carolina

Well I must admit I enjoyed the dio a lot. It's almost finished and looks good, IMO. So I am on the lookout for another ship. I'm going to put a pine frame around the edges but here it is

Railings for 1/700 Trumpeter USS North Carolina

There are a few on Hannants as you would expect such as https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/MDMD70004?result-token=9D7px And a few for Eduard models that say any 1/700 kit like https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ED99005?result-token=tJ4xd Are these OK for my ship ?

1/48 Airfix North American P-51D Mustang

Thought I should add this here as well. Excellent kit IMO. Beautifully detailed and everything more or less fitted.

    Trumpeter USS North Carolina BB-55 - 1/700

Early Stages on 9mm MDF which I will finish with 12mm moulding around edges when finished. Ready for colour I've added some more minor ripples on the upper left as you look at the photo. As you can see it’s a bit “flat” at the moment
