    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

Not according to the instructions, only two had to be drilled on the smaller deck part. All the rest are pre drilled it would appear. Whether they need opening up remains to be seen but that should not cause a problem if necessary.

    New pair of snippers

I bought these the other day as I was looking for some snippers to cut off those tiny delicate parts particularly helpful with these ship builds which seem to have many of them. Anyway these arrived and I have to say they are a game changer. They have extremely fine cutting jaws and they are...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

Ok, so after some Perseverance I have managed to get all three colours back on the hull and this time without bleeds. It’s come up surprisingly well considering it was not looking promising the other day. At least now I can start to move on to the Super structure which I’m sure will have its own...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

Live at the dock yard, me hearties!

Hey, don’t worry, I’ve gone off topic so Many times I can just about remember myself. This ones turning into a bit of an education . Sadly for me I used some varnish which obviisly went on too runny which then run under the tape and left sticky shiny streaks at every spar it passed over...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

Some ship mates in 1:350 scale. I have 144. Might use two or three just to add scale to the boat when it’s finished

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

I sprayed up the grey part of the hull and dry fixed the wood just to get a feel of how it may be. Sadly the hull Red has seeped through onto my black pin stripe which I suspected would happen as I probably loaded the red a bit too much. So will have to remask and carefull build up the pin...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

Can anyone help with these instructions. I find some of these PE parts difficult to see how they fit. Take the attached picture below. It’s a small deck that fits up on one of the masks but the PE33 (photo etch) looks difficult To place. Does it glue on its edge like a fin pointing down from...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

Revised hull colour. Going to give it a coat of Matt varnish once paint is cured and then move on to grey colour. I think going by the general consensus this is most likely closer to what it may have been.

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

I might cause some controversy here but the wood decking I ordered and was expected around March has arrived early. I have checked the thinness and it measures 0.22mm with a vernier. It’s thinner than I expected and to be honest it doesn’t look too bad. I’m now reconsidering using it seeing as I...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

I e sprayed my hull, Tamiya XF-9 Hull Red which according to the instructions is the correct colour. However, it’s very much more bergundy/brown looking to me. I’ve seen other models on line, some clearly painted in the same colour and others a more more red colour. Does anyone know what the...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

put a coat of grey primer followed by a coat of Flat black. Also had a go at some PE for one of the ship Parts. It looks ok without my glasses on but a little bendy in places with. Definitely Not easy trying to Bend around so many corners. Depending how it looks when primed I may rip it off...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

Hull glued together and propeller props fitted and one side of these net arms ( they are like splinters) that’s as much as my eyes can take in one sitting.

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

Whilst I’m on the subject of Battleships my initial plan was to start with a 1:350 Hood but then after scouring the google web I discovered this first proper dreadnought which started the whole dreadnought evolution for every other country. But before this dreadnought was the pre- dreadnought...

    HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

I was undecided what type of model to do next after completing my Lancaster (pictures of that to be posted shortly) In the end I just feel in the mood for another ship after recently completing the Queen Mary 1 also. So here we go for my first ever battleship build.. might take a while As I'm...

    Latest Acquisitions (2021)

Gosh, for a 1/350 scale model this boat ship seems smaller than expected. Here it is next to a 1/350 scale Titanic for size comparison.

Tamiya 1/48 Avro Lancaster B Mkiii

engine covers now in place. With a bit of clamping they fit ok although there are some gaps which I will try to fill and sand before priming. I left the engines out as I was t going to have the engine covers open. I did make one engine up just because it seemed a shame not to.

Etched parts for 1:48 super fortress

This is a bit of a long shot but I was trying to get hold of the photo etched cockpit control panel kit for my Monogram 1:48 B29 super fortress. Because it’s such an old model I can’t seem to find any on line. Looks like Revell supply them with their own kit but I could’t find them sold...
