    1/100 Flames of war series

So since last update I've completed a few. One of the challenger IIs and 4 Fox armoured cars so far.

    1/100 Flames of war series

Thanks for the comments chaps, not done yet. Have applied gloss varnish, washes and more gloss varnish with Tamiya weathering powders on exhaust grills and sand on the lower edges of the armour. Decals to go on and then matt varnish. Regarding value I thought it was good. Box was about 70...

    1/100 Flames of war series

So finished a challenger 2 minus decals. Not come out too bad but a very different style of painting to what I usually do.

    BR loco numbering

Hi all, A request for advice please. I am bored of using 5 numbers each side of my locos and cannot get BR N2 numbers ready made. It also means there are numerous parts of each sheet that aren't used. I have bought clear water slide paper and am planning to print the numbers myself. Any...

    1/100 Flames of war series

This was one I used as a test paint, now reprimed as it wasn't up to scratch.

    1/100 Flames of war series

So wanting a change and having a friend who is big into his wargaming he suggested I get some of these and paint them. Just wanted something I could get a reasonably quick result from and that's not too hard. Hopefully pick up some new skills from doing something different too. Models are good...

    What's on the bench 2022

Bench is busy today after a massive priming session this morning. Started a box of 1/35 armour for a bit of a change and a painting challenge. Also got the usual Hornby bits and primed the munitions and tanks for a 1/32 F14 that's been "in progress" for too long now.

Paint racks... what you using ?

So I bought the racks CarlW has and there were good but they really need to be firmly fixed to something. I got rid when I needed more space and just used 2x2 battons screwed to the wall, cheap and easy, just put up first one, paint pot on it plus a finger and that's height of next one. This...

    BMW R80 restoration

So got most bits for engine rebuild ready (excluding gearbox which needs to be done) apart from a new set of cam followers which are eye wateringly expensive. Think doing away with the air box type filter for direct inlets onto heads will look good.

    Upcycling autoart

So plasma cut face, cleaned up and transfer printed design onto it using design mirror printed off an ink jet printer, acetone and isopropanol. Had to repaint hands to look like classic 80s Ford dial hands. Pics not great but you get the idea.

    Upcycling autoart

Now done the top coat. Needs clear coat, the face putting in and acid etching logo into it and that will be it done.

    BMW R80 restoration

Cam shaft and crank shaft out. Cam followers are in tatters. Not unexpected after what if assume is 89000 miles but oddly the cam shaft is A1 almost. I would guess it's had a new cam shaft at some stage, though why you would put that in and not replace the cam followers I don't know. Cank seems...

    BMW R80 restoration

So have got a bit more done. Removed clutch and flywheel today. Clutch bolts were either M7, imperial or corroded M6. Couldn't be bothered faffing about so drilled out and retapped M8. Came off easy enough, fabricated simple tool to lock fly wheel and then removed that as well. Can shaft...

    Model Master Jackson Evans

Wasn't sure where to put this but wanted it to be seen so here seems a good bet. Recently bulk ordered a load of decals and name plates from Model Master Jackson Evens. Priced as is usual and website says they are getting over recent delays etc. Ordered on 20th March, nothing after 2 weeks...
