Tonys Italeri 1/48 Spitfire mk XVI

An interesting choice with the Italeri, have you decided on the colour scheme or still thinking on it,

    Steven’s 1/48 Spitfire Mk.IIa

The pilot is so well painted I had to make sure it really is 1/48. I’m looking forward to seeing it in-flight, planning on doing the same.

Welcome to this Anniversary GB, 90 years of Spitfires.

I tried to resist - everyone does a Spit, I’m going to stand above everyone else and not do one…. But then all these fabulous threads started appearing and there’s only so much cutting your nose off to spite your face you can really do.!

Papa695s 1/72 Airfix Spitfire PR XIX

On the plus side, they are not very thin stripes, let’s hope the other decals play nicer as well.

    Neils Eduard 1/72 Spitfire F Mk.IX

I’m thinking of putting it on a plinth, you don’t get a pilot with Eduard, but I have an airfix Spitfire that I lost the canopy before completion so I should have a pilot in that. I’ve got some parts of the office complete too. On a side-note, my acrylic for the grey/green had dried out, but I...

    Neils Eduard 1/72 Spitfire F Mk.IX

And some progress today - unfortunately it will be on hiatus for a couple of weeks as we’re away next weekend.

    Andy's 1/72 Spitfire Mk1

Very nice, and good to see the size comparisons.

    Marking camouflage before starting it

I sketch in pencil but then the masking tape gets messed up - I need some more blu-tack anyway so I’ll get some white as well - the irony is the Spitfire will be sea-blue on top and grey underside anyway :)

    Marking camouflage before starting it

I have tended to stick to single colour or large blocks of colour for the simple reason I usually draw the camo pattern on primer using a light pencil and then paint. This works OK, but the pattern is just my eye-balling the colour scheme and drawing it on by hand, and I’m sure this is not the...

Welcome to this Anniversary GB, 90 years of Spitfires.

I think I will be doing this - there is a blue/grey scheme from Malta which I like. Probably in flight. To be confirmed at the weekend

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

And of course, I had a ‘sticky’ basket… And a dilemma for the GB.

Papa695s 1/72 Airfix Spitfire PR XIX

I like the weird juxtaposition of two little birds with the feet in the air in the background, while the Spit gets closer to life :D Good progress here. I always end up with a right mess with maskol, might try the Vallejo next time.

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

It would almost be remiss not to join the GB with a cracking purchase like that. Sticky things, baskets.

    Geoff’s 1/48 Eduard Spitfire Story - Spitfire Mk.I build.

I’m a big fan of Eduard, I love their kits and the lovely glossy instructions- and they make such a good kit. Looking forward to this one too.

    Peter's Airfix Spitfire Mk.1a - 1:72.

Pretty sure we all did a Spitfire or two as a kid right? If it was Airfix, bound to have done it, hung it from ceiling with string. Nice progress, late to show but popcorn popped and pew pulled up

Welcome to this Anniversary GB, 90 years of Spitfires.

And striking while the iron is hot, ordered one from SMS (well two, because, you know, choice…) will join when they arrive this week.

Welcome to this Anniversary GB, 90 years of Spitfires.

After having panic when not finding a clear sprue, I thought I’d check out one in my stash Turns out I already started the Spit - it’s been primed - and as I’d hate to go against the spirit, clearly, I need to go shopping

    Italeri Fairchild Thunderbolt A-10C ‘Blacksnakes'

Been slacking but at it again today with the never ending PE Major panic when I couldn’t find the clear sprue, I was seriously looking up if I could get hold of another somewhere when I thought I’d have a check on other boxes from the stash, just in case… and thankfully, it was in another box...

    Andy's 1/144 Spitfire Mk1a

Do not drop it on the floor, looks like the carpet monster could probably swallow it whole! That is tiny, but I’m guessing that making it look good when it is that small is a challenge too, it would be easy to overdo it right?
