And now for what it looks like with a tad of colour splashed around, oh, it's just very ordinary Enamel house paint used, buy it from any hardware store near you ---------------

12th Scale Bakers Waggonette ----- Scratchbuilt

Here’s another Horse Drawn Vehicle that I have made, it’s a 1/12th scale Bakers Waggonette. It took me just over 6 months to get it finished, sometimes life just gets in the way of a decent hobby, eh. The original full sized vehicle is on display at the Redlands Museum in Cleveland, Qld. This...

Here is a 1/12th scale model of a Light Business Waggon, made from the drawings of J.E.Bishop and Son, printed in The Australasian Coachbuilder and Wheelwright, Oct 1906. Came across the body-work of an old truck that somebody had bought and did not want the body, they were after the truck...

    1/8th Scale Sydney Brass Sulky

Nope, nothing special at all, I just use any ENAMEL paint I can buy from the local hardware store. Just give it an undercoat using TESTORS Enamel paint, SAND colour, then whatever Enamel top coat colour I want to use. Applying Enamel in a 'special way', you can achieve an excellent polished...

    1/8th Scale Sydney Brass Sulky

Here's one that I liked the look of and had to make the drawings, to be able to make the model. It is a 1/8th scale model of a "Sydney Brass Sulky", so named because of all the extra brass bits that are all over the original vehicle. It was such a 'flash' type of vehicle that the young knob...

    Making aerials from sprues...

Still VERY relevant to what persons are doing today, strange as how these 'simple things' have kind of been lost to modern society, by todays fascination with the web. Basically, if it aint on the web, then it aint been thought of yet, -- but, somehow the old readable stuff is still very accurate.

    Making aerials from sprues...

Instead of using an open flame to heat the sprue, has anybody "ever tried" using a 100 watt light bulb to softer the sprue, much easier and a lot safer ? Just hold the sprue over the light bulb to get it to heat up the sprue. No nasty burns from the flame and you actually use two hands to hold...

    SCRATCHBUILT CANNON

I'll agree with that statement of --- not enough power ---- eventually chucked out the 240 volt AC motor that came with the lathe. Converted the lathe to a 24 volt DC motor, --- it now has the balls to cut steel easily. OK, you can not take 2mm depth cuts in steel with severe powered driven...

    SCRATCHBUILT CANNON

Here’s a Scratchbuilt miniature Cannon, this is meant to be a British 9lb Cannon, but looks suspiciously like a Napoleonic Cannon though. Saw the drawing for this little Cannon in the Model Engineer ( English publication ) can’t remember the date it was printed, but it was about 30 yrs odd...

Tamiya Extra Thin, whats the difference?

Oh, here's something I swiped of the web many many moons ago, so CAN NOT accredit it to any person, alive or deceased. Please remember that this is very old and written by a yank, I can not attribute if the pricing is still the same, bet it aint though. If your favourite glue is mentioned...

Tamiya Extra Thin, whats the difference?

Here is some thing that might be a bit controversial to some persons. Why pay for a small amount of branded liquid glue for way more money, than what a bulk lot of virtually the same stuff actually costs. Coming from Australia, the price of brand name liquid glues is just CRAZY, when compared...

Then I took to the Bruder kids toy and removed some bits, then added a few extras to give it a bit more realistic look about it ---------- Tossed the main boom, dipper arm and bucket, changed a few things in the cab and altered the way the grouser plates fitted ------
