Ian M's 1/48 Airfix, mk. 46 Seafire the 90th anniversary GB

Top notch wiork as ever. This is a 46 right which had shorter supercharger intakes - than they seem pretty long so makes you wonder just how long the 47’s were then!

Tonys Italeri 1/48 Spitfire mk XVI

Really excellent work Tony. I’ll be happy if mine comes out half as well.

    Neils Eduard 1/72 Spitfire F Mk.IX

The scheme is dark med blue on top so I’m not sure on white primer or grey to be honest. Black will make it look too dark but I’m thinking white could be too light underneath the blue.

    Neils Eduard 1/72 Spitfire F Mk.IX

Given up on the pilot, there was no way to get him in once I had the tub built so this will be wheels down and open canopy now. Some progress. The main build is done, and I just need to add the exhausts and wheels, fiddly bits etc. They will be after priming and painting. So next step is priming:

I saw someone had these recently and thought it was about time to get some.

    U.S.Icons Group Build - Do’s and Don’ts

I have a few aircraft for this, debating whether to go simple (Tamiya P51) or a B17 or a Phantom. Luckily I have plenty of time to decide, change my mind, decide again and, oh hell, no idea yet.

Tonys Italeri 1/48 Spitfire mk XVI

All looking spendid. The decals look like they have settled in to the lines properly as well.

    Nice to meet you

You should be safe Ringo, about the most contentious it gets here is whether or not it’s hairy stick or airbrush for the win! - but only ever politely and with respect for both. We’re just not very good at argument, but some are very good at model making which is what counts of course. Welcome...

Tonys Italeri 1/48 Spitfire mk XVI

I mentioned this but it has probably come up elsewhere, but that photo really shows the differences, you can clearly see the green on the tail is lower down on the second aircraft than the first. As they say, a picture paints a thousand words and all that. It’s looking good. Always good to get...

    Airfix April Fools

Anyone else have a chortle about the Airfix PartFinder™ – The Smart Way to Find Lost Model Parts! Email today. I started reading and thought it sounded a good idea and then realised it was April 1st. :rolleyes...

    Workbench, show us yours

Oh, I have the same camera, a remote switch, a tripod and fixed focal length lense - sounds like I want need, definitely need, to get a Lightbox. Looks very reasonable too - although the price needs doubling because it will definitely cost me a ‘wife equivalence co-efficient’ gift as well… time...

    Workbench, show us yours

I like the very organised paint charts on the wall - my usual (bad) method is to browse various web sites on my phone to find the equivalents. It’s not very effective!

    Ian M's Seafire fr46/47. Airfix 1/48.

I always find that with 1/48 you need to prime all the little bits, but with 1/72 I do sometimes just go straight to the main colour. Especially those parts that are hidden away afterwards. This is all looking spot-on and I’m glad someone did the Seafire as well.

    Gary's Academy 1/48 scale Wildcat F4F-F

Good job Gary, I think the weathering looks subtle and effective, rather underdo it than overdo it. I may need to invest in the rigging wire too.

well I’m fortunate to have a decent size room - but I can create mess without trying. So I have one desk for the modelling, theoretically an L-shape to have more room but that just gives me space to put more stuff on. A separate desk for the airbrush and painting booth. One day, I dream of...

    Neils Eduard 1/72 Spitfire F Mk.IX

And some more progress. I haven’t put it together yet, just dry fitting it to see it works OK.

    Neils Eduard 1/72 Spitfire F Mk.IX

well I found a pilot from an Airfix kit that I lost the canopy for, but I think he may need to go all Douglas Bader to fit in - painted in case he does fit..

    Steven’s 1/48 Spitfire Mk.IIa

well I’m off this week and one day will definitely be back to modelling and I am now sold on the in-flight version.

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

The Bandai/Revell are reboxing aren’t they? In which case, the At-At and AT-ST (as per my avatar) are well done - and I never feel the need to stick to the paint scheme for a fictional subject - go rogue with the scheme!

Paul T's Spitfire mk Vc...... Airfix 1/72

I do like a nice silver aircraft. This is looking splendid.
