    thinking of getting this

The wife of a good friend of mine calls hobby spending “Sanity money”. It gives you joy in what can sometimes be a miserable world, keeping you sane. If you can afford it, then just pull the trigger. As long as it doesn’t mean you have to go without things like food or heating where’s the...

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

Truly superb work. It’s areal pleasure to read through this every morning and see what’s been added.

German Jagdpanzer VI - AliExpress No Name special - 1/144 scale.

Nice little model. If you do need decals, Pendraken do them here..along with a wide range of vehicles and figures that would work with it… https://www.pendraken.co.uk/scale-specialties-10mm-vehicles

Eduard overtrees, am I in the minority?

I’ve neve4 done it, but do appreciate the idea. In effect, a Profipak leaves quite a lot of spare decals, so buying a set of over trees gives you a cheap weekend kit. What’s not to like?

    Preventing rust in compressor tank

For those that don’t know…… Compressor tanks are usually made from mild steel. Mild steel, in conjunction with moisture and oxygen, will rust. All air holds moisture. When you compress air it warms up, and will then hold more moisture. When you draw off compressed air the resultant pressure...

    Airfix April Fools

Interesting that Manns was doing that. Must be something in the water round there. This came up on my feed from the butchers opposite the Manns shop….

Is scale modelling a cheap or expensive hobby?

I’d say it’s got fairly high start up costs as you get kitted out, but then the cost to time ratio drops off markedly. I bought all my build kit years ago, and just replace things that wear out these days. Actual model kit costs are higher than they were, but still reasonable if you cost the...

Mate, I know skill and quality when I see it….and I’m seeing it there.

Anusha 1/10th scale bust, Pedro Fernandez Works

You left me in the weeds ages ago Paul…..you show far more flair on these big busts than I ever did, and your technique is way beyond me now. I’m still pretty good on the little blokes though 😁

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

More superb work Brian. Just magic.

Anusha 1/10th scale bust, Pedro Fernandez Works

Cool. I thought it might be a bindi, but it seemed too “perfect” and three dimensional. Looking forward to this one though, you are great at eastern skin tones.

    Airfix Bullfinches

Looking good Ian. You are doing a great job on a really interesting subject, and these models look much better with paint on than they do in raw plastic 👍. Might be my monitor, but to me the male breast colour seems too “red”. Those I’ve seen in the flesh, so to speak, are a little more...

    Update on Ron

This is the one that Ron did that has really stayed with me….superb modelling and a truly moving story. https://www.scalemodelling.co.uk/threads/grandad-did-you-really-drive-a-railway-engine-dapol-oo-ho-class-9f-2-10-0-loco.26874/

I wonder if Ido and the lads are going for a commemorative pint in the Clackers? I do hope so…..

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

They are about 1/56 scale Peter. 28mm is the One True Scale to me. Big enough to be detailed and easy to paint well, and small enough to get lots on the table…. If you enjoy doing these, look at Victrix and Perry 28mm figures…they are a cut above WA…..

    Mr Aqueous and Mr Acrysion

Andy T has this spot on. The Mr range, along with Tamiya paint, are difficult to brush paint successfully, and will kill brushes quickly. I would look at water based acrylics, such as Vallejo, AK (both listed by Andy) along with Army Painter, Warpaints, Hataka et Al. There are a lot of them...

    Andy's 1/48 Spitfire Mk1a

Great results Andy. Glad it’s not just me that finds the aerial stuff doesn’t always stick first time……

    Andy's 1/48 Spitfire Mk1a

Looking fine Andy. Good luck with the aerial wire, always hate doing them, even using ezeline, which pretty much does what it says on the tin….
