    What's on the Bench 2025

A few things like a snake... And some figure modifications that are still in WIP... Cheers, Wabble

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, the donkey gets some attention now. I modified the donkey from the Dragon Fallschirmjager set. It was quite stiff looking and wanted it to look as if it was forced to move forward. Also I was going to burden it with a heavy load. It starts out like this...with the one on the left with neck...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, some last few details on the Bedouin before we move onto the donkey... I've beefed up the dagger with putty and scribbed detail. Needs cleaning up. A Bedouin isn't one unless he carries one of their iconic weapons...the North African or Arabian heavily inlaid Snaphaunce Lock Jezail...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, I have moved on to covering the feet. With the extra putty I made sandal straps and eventually even the soles which I was going to do with plastic strip. They're square at the moment but when cured I will snip them into shape and sand them down. I waited until the putty stiffened a little...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi Steve, I don't know what's under my seat but it sure is driving me with some weird mojo. Just a little tease as of what stage I'm at... The figures are just placed flat for now. Some improvements were done to the donkey/mule, long pants added to the Bedouin and the snake has a rough head...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

I crafted the vest in three parts...the right half, back and left half. It is still curing as I type. I teased the front halves as if blown by the wind. This was done when the putty got slightly harder so it stayed in shape. I made stitched sections with the end of a blade and used the same to...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, Continuation of the Bedouin...I made some progress with the Bedouin by adding putty to his lower half and roughly shaping it before it cures. I would then add more folds with a burr and powered drill. Obviously needs thinning down... I need to re-direct the folds around this area...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi All, ...the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end... either way I have to finish this build. It all started way back in 2018 when I had an idea for an Africa Korp dio and then it stalled so I had another brilliant idea, I thought at the time to separate the donkey, Bedouin and add...

Italeri Hudson Mk IV 1/72 scale.

Hi, Another commission build that I have started. I don't often do commission builds but was made an offer I could not refuse. Besides I had the kit in my stash and thought it was the only way I would ever build it. I got it years ago practically nearly free. The kit Fit isn't too bad where dry...

    Happy Chinese New Year

It's that time of the year to celebrate CNY and invite the year of the snake for 2025. The batch of vegetarian dish I made this years reunion dinner was a success and there was no left overs for the next day. Already had four dinners of raw fish salad and the mandarins are as sweet as ever...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Thanks Graeme. Got my pine trees painted. The two in front are previous trees that needed some medical attention. There will be bad weather and snow fall later. Six solid days on these trees and still some tinkering to do. Test fitted the placement and have marked the spots with the unused...

    Latest Acquisitions (2025)

Walked into Daisho the other day and bought this cutter. Haven't used one of these for ages since art school days to cut friskets to airbrush. Double beveled tungsten blade keeps its sharp tip when you cut compound curves. If it ever gets blunt I'll use it for scribing. Daisho is a Japanese...

Revisiting kits we built in our youth......

Very nostalgic. After accumulating some skills and age experience I have re-built a couple of Airfix, Matchbox and Monogram kits with a lot of cursing in between and questioning why did I do it. I like the challenge and really got it in the face for some. The wip's have been posted here before...

Hi guys, second one near finish...the third in progress... Tedious but needs to be done. Cheers, Wabble

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Hi Scottie, I have tried asparagus ferns in the past but find them too delicate and flat without enough body. Anyway assembling my trees need a set of instructions by the looks of it... Each group has five branches and they have their aloted sizes for each tier. Not so fun part of making the...

    Steven's Viking Ship (1/50 Revell)

How many clamps did you say you have? I like what you did with the cargo hold. Little extras like this enhances the kit further. Looking good already. Cheers, Wabble

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Hi Scottie, Jim R and Steven, thanks. I use this dried plant from the florist. Don't know what it's called and is a far cry from pine needles which I need to coat with finely cut hemp rope to simulate that. What it does is give a believable structure of a pine branch to work with. These are...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Thanks Scottie, started putting up the branches. There's a patch in the middle that I haven't covered. Took me awhile to get into rhythm. Will have to remove the bottom set as they're facing the wrong direction. Cheers, Wabble
