    Superglue question

I've tried a couple of the modelling branded types, and while I found they worked well, with my build rate I threw most of it away as it went hard..... For the last few years I've been using this: One comes with every set of Oxford Hot Grips and its really not what you want for gluing...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Deadline day. The build has limped a little further in the right direction. Hoping to get the top wing fitted later and then hopefully get some pictures in the completed section tomorrow. After that I might use the airframe for a bit of rigging practice but no guarantees on any pictures of...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Well, deadline day is approaching and I haven't forgotten about this. Here's where she's at currently. Getting quite fragile now with the smaller parts being fitted. Thanks for looking in... Nick

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Ordered this for my Grandson (7). Turned up just in time! He's got a few of the smaller Quick build kits under his belt now so this big one will be a good measure of how close he is to tackling one that needs gluing together. Nick

    Nick's Airfix 1/35 30cwt truck - Pete's Wheeled Cargo Movers GB

Well, here she is, a pretty new release from Airfix that builds up quite easily into a nice sturdy model. I went for the three-colour desert scheme in memory of my Grandfather who spent the war years as a baker in North Africa and Italy. I like to think he may have travelled around in something...

Nick's Airfix 1/35 WWII British Army 30-CWT Truck

Apologies again for the big gap between posts, but various things have kept me away from the bench lately. I have however managed to get this one to the point that I'm calling it done. After final assembly, I got the minimal decals on and then made some attempts at weathering and toning down the...

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Been on a trip up t'North to visit our daughter and she gave me this as a little early Christmas pressie. My son-in -law is the engineer that designed the 'Spitfire Roundabout' installation in Blackpool so there is a bit of a family connection. Inside its the regular Airfix starter set with some...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Managed to get the upper surfaces painted. Went with Tamiya colours NATO Green and NATO Black as they were to hand. Pondering on a clear coat of some kind, but there are not too many decals to go on this one. Thanks for looking in.. Nick.

Nick's Airfix 1/35 WWII British Army 30-CWT Truck

Managed to get the other basic colours on the truck.... I think I could be applying a few decals next... Thanks for looking in. Nick

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Pushing things along a little bit, I had a try at thinning the fin braces for the bombs... Then I put the undercarriage assembly together and set it to dry resting roughly in place ready to be painted separately later... After that was sorted, I shot some primer on it... And got that...

Nick's Airfix 1/35 WWII British Army 30-CWT Truck

I have made some more modest progress. Got a little more work done in the cab before buttoning it up..... Managed to break one of the mirrors and bodged a repair with some fuse wire.... Glazed and masked the cab and now have the whole lot base-coated..... Next job will be to attempt...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Not exactly stellar progress even by my standards, but I have done a bit on this.... The very nice Quinta seatbelts added: The fuselage glued up - needed a bit of help at the very narrow attachment between the cockpits: And I have got the lower main wing and nose fitted. There will need...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Got a bit more stuck into this one and here's where I'm at: Each of the seats is made up of six parts. They build up nicely, but I'll need to take care once they are glued onto the cockpit floor... After these and the powerplant we assembled I started the painting. Interior was done with...

Nick's Airfix 1/35 WWII British Army 30-CWT Truck

A little more progress on this one. The minimal photo-etch was tackled before painting could start.... Then it was on with some of the wet stuff. After a coat of Mr Surfacer 1500, the tyres got a bit of Tamiya Rubber Black and the main base colour was applied using MRP Light Stone, which...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Ok, its not a lot, but I have made a start. There are a couple of ejector marks that are within the cockpit area. They might very well not be seen, but I will see if I can disguise them a bit. I've given the fuselage halves a bit of a clean up and removed the seam line from the (presumably...

Nick's Airfix 1/35 WWII British Army 30-CWT Truck

Well, apologies for the lack of updates, but I've had a couple of busy weekends with the family. Things have moved forward a little however and after dealing (hopefully) with a few more ejector marks, I have enough reasonable sized lumps to start painting. Back at work for a few days now, but...

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

Thanks Guys. The mouldings look very nice as do the Quinta extras. Bear with me though. Bench time non existent this weekend as we have the Grandkids. Last weekend we visited out Daughter up North so it was ruled out then as well. Can't complain though, the weather is lovely for October...

    The Motorbike Thread

It was just too nice today not to get out on the bike so I took a ride out to the memorial for RAF Bradwell Bay. This is really out in the sticks (for Essex) and some lovely riding roads. Nick.

    Nick's ICM 1/48 U2

OK, here's my entry for this Group Build and thank you to Karl and Andrew for getting it up and running and hosting. I will be hoping to get started in the next week or so..... This is a 2019 boxing of a 2014 tooling by ICM so hopefully it will go together nicely. Here are the plastic...

    Spots on the Internet (2023)

On the Meng Facebook page, available December, a 1/9 BMW R1250GS ADV..... Length 253mm so it'll be quite an imposing model. I'll be interested to see how they've moulded the wheels with the spokes terminating on the outside edge of the rim. Nick
