Colin M's Spitfire PR XIX Airfix 1:48

'huge nose' as we know, tail draggers are a bit of a pain to drive around on the ground. This, with its Griffon engine must have been a nightmare.

Colin M's Spitfire PR XIX Airfix 1:48

The Supermarine Spitfire PR.XIX of the Temparature and Humidity flight (THUM) RAF Woodvale, Southport 1956. The aircraft of the THUM flight, flew upto around 30,000 feet (pressurised cockpit) where they gathered weather data to pass back to the Met office, this occured six times a week. The...

FROG 1/72 de Havilland DH 60 g Gypsy Moth

Cheers Joe. I was imagining a total failure, but as you point out, a partial failure is enough to cause trouble.

    Curtis Tomahawk IIb....... Airfix 1/72

A fine choice Paul. I've always liked the look of the P40, even if the pilots weren't hugely impressed with the A/C.

FROG 1/72 de Havilland DH 60 g Gypsy Moth

Great work Tony, fantastic detail as ever. The spare propellor got me thinking. If it failed on the ground, ok. If it fails in the air ??

    Steve's 1/32 Revell Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc

All looking very nice. It's always a proud moment for a modeller when a build stands on its own three wheels for the first time.

Paul T's Spitfire mk Vc...... Airfix 1/72

Paint and decals, the end is in sight. At least I always think that, then I realise, there's loads of little jobs still to do.

    Colin M's 1/48 Airfix Spitfire PR.XIX

Paint, paint at last. I had a few reoccurring seams to deal with but finally we are here. I’m using a Tin of Humbrol 230, simply because I’ve got it. I last used it in 2008, when I built a Swedish pru blue Spitfire. As you can see, it is as Matt as can be. And after three coats of ‘Klear’ a...

    Colin M's 1/48 Airfix Spitfire PR.XIX

Yes, this does look a bit like talking to myself, but I've found the evidence at last. The centre of the canopy is indeed frameless. Another quirk of the pressurised cockpit.
