    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Apologies for no photos, I still can't upload as yet Just received the Italeri re-issue of the old Supermodel CANT Z.1007, and it IS just a re-issue. Unlike the upgraded Z.506 and SM.81, which had interior detail added and inscrbed panel lines (even where the real S.81 doesn't have them!), the...

FROG 1/72 de Havilland DH 60 g Gypsy Moth

Well, I did not know that. Every other Ukrainian model company I've experienced have been pretty damn good Slava Ukrana! Nothing wrong with the detail or subject matter of AModel stuff, I praise them like I should, but construction leaves a lot to be desired. Have they never heard of locating...

FROG 1/72 de Havilland DH 60 g Gypsy Moth

Tempting, but the same markings for 601 are in the AModel Metal Moth kit. So the kit has alternative parts for the 60M? Now I AM iterested as the two AModel kitsI've got are the Genet Moth and the 'M' Metal Moth and I think I'd rather build this old kit than face another of these 'difficult'...

    Westland Lynx - Matchbox - 1:72 scale

Nice Every time I see a Lynx modelled I think 'how easy would it be to do one from the Oasis video' And then I look at my stash and get better

FROG 1/72 de Havilland DH 60 g Gypsy Moth

Now, you've done an inspirational job on this old bird! If I didn't already have the AModel Gypsy Moth for my RAF silver wings set, I'd think about getting one of these to start an Amy Johnson/Mollison collection! Maybe I'll just stick to converting my FROG Westland PV6 to a service Wallace

    Westland Lynx - Matchbox - 1:72 scale

This is weird. I built this back in the day, and I truly don't remember that it could be built as either Navy or Army, wheels and skids both their on the sprues Well, it WAS fifty years ago... Nice job so far. Are you going to use the original transfers? I mean, they're only THIRTY years old!

FROG 1/72 de Havilland DH 60 g Gypsy Moth

Yep, those transfers have turned out pretty good for their age

A Mk VIII or Liberty Tank

Parts you put together as a representation of another item? Yup, I'd say that's a model!

Painting parts prior to assembly, yes or no?

Generally, I build as much as I can before painting. Inacccessible stuff, like aircraft interiors, I paint complete before closing up Small parts I paint on sprue before attaching, because they'll always be knocked off But that's a different thing entirely

    Knowing/Learning when to stop!

Well, JMW Turner was never quite satisfied his paintings were 'finished', so we're in good company Sort of

What scale do you prefer most?

    1/700? 1/350, 1/600?

The rise of Warhammer, et al, V "regular" traditional scale modelling?

I read recently that by turnover, GW are something like 10 times more profitable than every other wargames company PUT TOGETHER! AND they don't have to pay Henry Cavill for all the free advertising he does "I used to play GW, but I got better." Haven'tplayed 40K since, ooh, 1989? There was a...

    How old are we?

Blimey, are we almost ALL grey scale old guys? NOW I feel old "The world will not see their kind again'

What scale do you prefer most?

You're possibly thinking of 1/56, the 'nominal' 28mm wargaming scale? Italeri do a couple of vehicles joint released with UK wargames company Warlord Most interesting part of this poll would be what are people doing in what scales

Purchasing Flyhawk Kits In the UK

Interesting. I guess Super-Hobby have pseudo-UK for 'reasons'. Like avoiding duties? Postage on their site seems low, and they get a lot of good reviews. But who knows these days

Purchasing Flyhawk Kits In the UK

Hannants don't, but Super-hobby.co.uk seem to stock a range, as well as a lot of other ranges I would love to fill my pre-dreadnought desires with... Still, I miss White Ensign. And the days when postage from mainland Europe didn't cost more than the item!

    1:48 Smer Macchi Castoldi M.C. 72

Flat rod? Hmm, Slaters Plastikard (yes, with a 'k') do a range of rod and strip that might be of use?

Red Arrows ‘What if’ EE Lightning. Airfix 1/48th.

Well, the Firebirds flew Lightnings as a display team, the year before the Red Arrows were even formed, so why not? Methinks a Red Arrows Hunter would look rather pretty too. Or a Buccaneer...
