    Jack's Bag End

1st step is a scale sketch...I'm not doing the whole house as it covers a pretty large surface area, just the 'front'. I'll have to work out how to present the sides/back.

    Jack's Bag End

Well I sincerely apologise for the title, please don't use your imagination! I will be attempting to recreate a version of Bilbo Baggins' house under-the-hill, Bag End. I already think I may have bitten off more than I can chew!

    1950s Hampton Lovett

As part of a National Heritage something or other, my Dad was 'commissioned' to build a scale replica of the local church. He managed to find the exact plans of the building and with a small amount of input from myself, build himself a very passable model. Now he and one of his friends from the...

Some colour and some details added. Paint bottle for scale.

    What's on the Bench 2024

Well 'What's on the Bench' is quite a lot of liquid resin. Lesson learned on buying cheaper 3D printed figures. Unfortunately now outside of the returns window, and also a fume induced headache to go with.

    What's on the Bench 2024

Anyone know what this is? British armour stowage? No clue what it is, so no idea what to google for colour reference.

    What's on the Bench 2024

Some very late progress shots of the M10 Achilles. Very much a WIP with the interior nearly there, but all criticism welcome. Excuse the blotches on the floor...the fixer didn't behave.

    Behind the scenes at Academy

I was going to say I would have thought they would obscure the Tamiya logo from the glue and paints etc...but even more prudent might have been to remove the Tamiya and Tasca kits from view. :tears-of-joy:

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

I've been building steadily in the background but not really felt like sharing them here for whatever reason. But taken a liking to 1/48 helicopters, with a Chinook waiting for paint. Managed this on a facebook auction for less than £30 delivered. Did have my eye on a Merlin too, but that went...

What flew over your house (yesterday)

Apologies for the picture quality, these are stills from a much more satisfying video. Popped home to see Mum and Dad briefly yesterday and was treated to a private airshow. Now while the MIdlands Air show was taking place this weekend, they are a good 20 miles from Ragley Hall so this may have...

    Uncured Resin

Bought these two from ebay - 3D printed resin. Cheap enough that if they were useless that it wouldn't be too much of an issue. Quality at a glance looks pretty good. However on the straps on their backs the detail is soft. And so is the resin. While carving away to get some sharper detail, some...

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

A cheap ebay win... Two 1/16 3D printed figures I took a gamble on. Fairly cheap but good for what I paid. And the pricey detail up kits from AFV Modeller for the 1/16 Achilles. Look extremely good at a glance.

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

Always wanted to give 1/16 a go...and the creator is having an anniversary sale at the moment, so thought why not. It's huge. The size of it terrifies me!! Can of pop for reference against the upper hull. Need to decide if and what aftermarket to go for. A couple more figures and some...

Usual great service from John the spare part that was missing from the Apache box, and he 'persuaded' me to add some items so such a small part wouldnmt get lost on the post.

Rocket pods: Hellfires: And some Green: John has also very kindly sorted out the part that was missing for me.

    Meng 1/35 Apache AH64D Longbow

Thanks Ian Thanks Rick Opposite side electronics bay has been done: Rest of the steps were fairly dull, so skipped them for you...and gone straight to the primer stage: This really is a fantastic kit with amazing engineering. A few details can be added, wiring, seatbelts etc, but great...

Really enjoying this kit. A little bit of space for some minor scratch work.

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

Usual excellent value and service from John and the shop. Ordered Friday, and unusually, delivered Sunday evening. I made a slight error in that I though there might be markings/parts for early British version, but seems you have to go for a Takom model which I've not had good experiences with.
