    What's on the Bench 2023

Thanks Jakko. The instructions give dimensions (assuming they are correct). I was actually thinking it might be a little more difficult finding appropriately scaled, straightish twigs. Going to have a look when out walking the dog. Certainly nothing suitable in my garden.

    What's on the Bench 2023

A little diorama on the go, lost mojo on the tracks though. And AFV's AVRE awaiting paint.

    What's on the Bench 2023

Trying the 'Nightshift' method on a base. A sort of before and after. First time I have tried it and I'm sold. Seeing lots of bits to improve, but a muuuch better effect already.

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

I bought the bloke on the right as an addition to the U-Boat crew. I made the assumption he was resin - nope white metal. The description also said 1/35, but he's much closer to 1/32. I'll paint him up and see how out of place he looks

Usual great service and value from John. @Jakko you can probably claim commission on the AVRE. Been eying them up for a while but your build encouraged me to add to basket.

    Jack's Border 1/35 U-Boat Conning Tower

Took a note out of Ron's book and went out to the pond in the garden to take a couple more photos.

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Something a bit different for me. Want to practice my painting and inspired by @Tim Marlow. Not entirely sure why, as I'm not getting much bench time lately, but bought these 'not' Lord of the Rings characters off Etsy. Unbelievable that they are 3D printed. The only place you can see any layers...

    Jack's Border 1/35 U-Boat Conning Tower

Figures done and in place. I need to scratch a pair of suitable binoculars for one chap.

    NON-UK model shops/webshops.

Hands down the best actual shop I have ever visited, Magicbox Hobbies in Vancouver. Biggest selection of kits, aftermarket and tools/paints I have ever seen. No website.

    Jack's Border 1/35 U-Boat Conning Tower

Thanks all. A better lit picture.

    Jack's Border 1/35 U-Boat Conning Tower

Making 'progress' with the figures. Go through phases of being really happy with them, to stripping them down and starting again. Afraid the pics have come out terribly, and there is still lots to do. But they are getting closer.

    Paint mixing

There are some faint mouldings on the bottom, kite marks etc, but I think you would have to be pretty picky to be bothered about those. They really are minimal and definitely don’t catch a stirring rod.

    Just typical.

I can’t even get near a box at the moment…

    Jack's Border 1/35 U-Boat Conning Tower

And all of a sudden, it clicked, and I decided it done. I think. May not be. May do more. Figures and accessories still to come. C&C most welcome. Enjoy

    Jack's Border 1/35 U-Boat Conning Tower

A few detailed shots of the starboard weathering progress. I'm really happy so far. Biggest challenge will be not to take it too far (may already be too far) but I like where it's at. What I'm debating and wondering how to, is water marks/salt build up especially on the lower hull. I could...

    Jack's Border 1/35 U-Boat Conning Tower

Been chipping away at the starboard side weathering (pun intended). After hearing lots of praise for Flory Washes, i bought a couple of shades. Instant fan here.

    Jack's Border 1/35 U-Boat Conning Tower

Not sure this is update worthy, but spending more time with the oils and enamels. Think I may have overdone the AA deck wear and tear.
