    Pauls MiG 17....Airfix 1/72

Was watching one of these on ebay this week but missed the auction end , could have maybe got it for £9 all in . If I won it I would have been aiming to do the natural metal version too .

Airframe now complete , primed and paint has begun . I started with white round the rear fuselage which was masked off for the fuselage band . The grigio azurro undersides followed this then this was masked and the top surfaces given a coat of giallo mimetico ( sand ) . The top colours continue...

I used vallejo model color acrylic pete , I was concerned about it attacking the paint too , the test piece didnt show any problems though .

    Next figure painting project

Incredible work john , looks excellent . The new figures look good too . I’ve used the AK 3rd gen paints and found them to be great - although I mainly airbrush them but I thought they brushed ok , nice fine pigment and good coverage . Of course I dont know how they would perform with blending...

Just remember its virtually impossible to clean the brush steve , plus the thinner it is the harder it is to rub or peel off .

Yes its very similar to maskol joe , its a latex fluid that dries very rubbery , its main drawback is its impossible to clean out of a brush and it stinks like fish ! It was always used in schools back in the day over here for sticking paper etc but we mainly used to make great big rubbery balls...

Been playing around regarding the camo scheme . Rather than spraying overall green and trying to paint the sand splodges I’m going to spray the sand first then mask the splodges and spray the green. I got a wing from the spares box and gave it a coat of sand , then applied some random splodges...

Yes , I considered cutting it off and adding it last but it seemed quite strong so decided to risk it -theres plenty of time yet for it to get knocked off !

Started with the cockpit today . Its detailed enough considering its a very small opening and not much will be seen , even with the open ( sideways hinged ) canopy . First job was to sort the two ejector pin marks on the sidewalls . A quick scrape and some tiny strips of plastic card and they...

    Bye for now

Youve certainly been through it these last few years bob , so understandably modelling is the least of your concerns . As others have said dont be a stranger , we’re all here wishing you and julie all the best and the door is always open . Hopefully the bungalow quest is successful and you can...

BOATMANS B58 HUSTLER IN 148th scale with lights

Beating it into shape chris , i seem to remember mine put up a bit of a fight too , not surprising really when you look at the size of the pieces , theres plenty of chance for them to warp a little .

    Papa695s Eduard 1/144 A4 sky hawk.

Great cockpit Ian , the canopy will be tiny on this so could easily vanish with a slight draught or a good sneeze ! Hopefully eduard will come good for you .
