I also have some oil paint thinners, not sure if that's the same as other thinners, but will give that a try also if nowt else works...

Masking fluid, how to remove from brush?

Hmm, I do have some lacquer thinner, as I have a very few tins of Tamiya Lacquer, but TBH I never use them, so never use the thinners either, I'll give it a try, cheers.

Pesky dust and blowing it away

The little cordless Dspiae vac can also be used as a blower, you fit a small nozzle /tube /hose (included) to the rear exhaust vent and it acts as a nice blower to clear dust, etc. See previous vid I did here.... YT clip on Dspiae vac/blower Vids only 10 mins long and if you go to the 3min mark...

Nerdy Scale Model Spreadsheet, what to include?

Yep, I think I can see myself doing another spreadsheet for scale model "consumables" or similar. Like you I have so many paints, thinners, adhesives, etc now and actually bought a jar of Tamiya paintn yesterday, cos I thought I was running out, only to find when I got home, that I already had a...

Nerdy Scale Model Spreadsheet, what to include?

Lol, I wish I was as reserved and restricted as you, I think I had bought more than six models within the month of starting up the hobby!:LOL::LOL:

Nerdy Scale Model Spreadsheet, what to include?

Just seen that you also have where you bought the kit from, so I'll add that column too to mine. Cheers

Nerdy Scale Model Spreadsheet, what to include?

Thanx for that, I did not know you could export stuff from Scalemates. I do (occasionally) use Scalemates, so maybe that's a better way to go? But I don't have all my kits on there. Does it export lots of the info for you? or do you still have to enter it all first yourself? As if thats the...

Nerdy Scale Model Spreadsheet, what to include?

So far it looks like this.... as above, what would you add? I have made some of the columns drop down lists, so you just click on a cell and select from a pre determined list, eg: Kit type, Country of use, Scale, etc, so you don't have to keep typeing stuff in, etc. Just makes it a bit quicker...

Nerdy Scale Model Spreadsheet, what to include?

Someone else on the forum mentioned counting up their model kits and it occurred to me that keeping a spreadsheet could be a good idea and a good record. NB: I have always been a bit nerdy/geeky, and into IT and computers, and have used many spreadsheets over the years, both at home and at...

I have to change my brand loyalty ...

Lol, only 32...... must try harder....! :D;) (y) Edit, I remember doing a training session years ago on how to use Pivot tables in MS Excel at work, looked great, very useful, etc, etc. Went back to work, did not use excel for few days, then after about a week or so, I thought, ooh yea Pivot...

Masking fluid, how to remove from brush?

Hmm, ok so I've now tried brush cleaning fluid (Tamiya) with no joy. Then I tried Isopropyl alcohol (sp?) with no joy. Both brushes still have remnants of the dried masking fluid on the base of the brushes. I used two brushes cos I did a little test go with one brush on a bit of scrap clear...

    Westland Lynx - Matchbox - 1:72 scale

So main build is now done, but still need to gloss coat and then decals... Last thing to do was attach the rotors. Got them on ok, but not sure if its just me, but no matter what angle I looked at them, they (the large main rotors) looked a bit on the wonk? So before the adhesive had...

Is scale modelling a cheap or expensive hobby?

My wife and I always wanted to retire at 60, we both had professional careers. Sadly despite having redundancies where I worked, they would not let me go, as I was the only person capable of doing my role in a large team, so I missed out on a good payoff (as I had been there for 30 years at that...

Masking fluid, how to remove from brush?

Yes, the sort of cream one in a jar, looks a bit like Brylcream, I'll give it a go. I have also not yet trued isopropyl alchohol, so will try that too if brush cleaner does not work. Cheers

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

I had to pop to the shops to get a few bits in, and I pass by my local model shop on the way, so I popped in, just to buy a jar of Tamiya paint for an upcoming build..... But, I am also a bit "flush" after selling some stuff from one of my other hobbies.... dangerous as we know...... So...
