    Ships in Bottles?

Nice model taking shape here. Putting a ship in a bottle unfortunately compromises the amount of detail that can be added to enable the process. Ships in bottles will always be good recognisable impressions of particular vessels rather than highly detailed miniatures that are a different ball...

    Jauqes cousteau calypso

The Billings kit. 1/45th scale will allow for a highly detailed big model. I think that the real ship was converted from a mine sweeper. I can remember the Revell kit but never seen one built up at any shows in the UK. Probably quite a number of unbuilt kits languishing in stashes !

How long to make a standard model??

Time taken on my models ? Don't ask! Since doing some scratch built cars in larger scales, lucky if I build one a year and I am retired! Going back to the OP's original question, it depends on whether the kit is easier with fewer parts or highly complex straight out of the box. Also depends on...

    Workbench, show us yours

Some modelling rooms are utopia, others like municipal tips ! Mine falls into the latter category, so I won't be showing it on here anytime soon!

    Tidy, tidy, tidy 😀

Sounds like a very exclusive club there McSporran. Looks like it could be a welcome distraction for single and divorced modellers, that is if you can actually find any of that ultra rare species who actually always keep their benches tidy. Warning ! Married modellers run acute personal risk of...

    Aoshima vertex Aristo

Yet another nicely built model from kacitgirl. At this rate will soon overtake Henry Ford's production output. Only joking !

Review - Dspiae Tool Combo Set - Pt1

It is surprising the number of tools one accumulates over the years. Some of mine sit unused for long periods, but when that job comes up that needs the right tool !!!!

    Revell Aqua, not impressed!

I have used it for brush painting and found it to be fine in use. The body containers take a bit of getting used to. Hobbycraft locally has run their Aquacolour stock out having been running it down for a while now. Not sure if those paints have been discontinued or not, but my local...

    The Football Thread

Paris SG and Bayern. Best match I have watched for years! The Atletico Madrid and Arsenal game was so boring to watch in comparison. Hope Arsenal make the Champions League final after the second legs of the semis.

Review - Dspiae Tool Combo Set - Pt1

I have looked at Dspiae things at various UK model shows. Good quality up market tools from what I can see. interesting to read users comments about them on this forum. Not found anything in their range yet that I would find a use for having many tools acquired over the years. But who knows...

Bugatti Shuttle Craft from Elysium ?

Is there anyone who has done a conventional kit or 3D printed model of this subject ?

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

None so far this year but started work on the Italeri Bugatti 35 that I bought way back when it was first released. Quite a lot to do on it, so another slow build on the offing !

    How old are we?

Over 21. But let's say I can remember buying bagged Airfix kits in Woolworths !

As far as a great many are concerned, I'm afraid so Langy ! But not all of us thank goodness.

At what point is your "stash" getting out of hand?

Leyton O A disciplined modeller where stashes are concerned. A very rare species. Not many of those around ! Lol.

    Premium Hobbies

So many paints to choose from ! I can remember the good (?) old days of Humbrol and like it here in the UK, and Airfix paints in those little glass screw top bottles. Gloy tried to compete with Humbrol back in the late 70's by bringing out a large range of modelling enamels that forced Humbrol...
