    Latest Acquisitions (2025)

    Bought this for the vintage airfix GB. I did build this ib around 1976 as a child and always wanted to revisit it when I got back into modelling. The decals are currently basking in the sun, hopefully to whiten them up a bit. No idea if this trick really works.

    Nearly there now. I've done a bit of weathering and a panel wash and applied a matt clear coat. Going to add the arial wire now and do a bit more weathering but hopefully getting close to finishing my first model in absolutely ages.

    Well I've done the modelling. My technique was a trimmed down brush to which I applied paint then stubbed loads of it off on a board then dabbed it on the aircraft. I'm quite happy with the results.

    I've stalled painting the upper of the aircraft as I needed to touch some things up first. In the meantime I've painted the nose cone and propeller and attached these. The white swirly de cal on the nose cone was really difficult to fit properly. I think I've done okay.

    A bit of progress. I've finished painting underneath the aircraft. It's looks more blue in the photo than it actually is. I'll be moving onto the more complicated top of the aircraft next.

    The cockpit is ready to be buttoned up after a matt coat. I've dry fitted the fuselage and it seems fine but in my experience, most things dry fit and something always don't fit on the real go. I'll be trying this tomorrow.
