Hasegawa Voyager 1/48: strategy to paint the model

ROFL !!! Sorry, typo corrected. Ok, so if there is no obvious advantage painting the model after fully assembling it, I will do this section by section, seems easier. Other question: I suppose my Tamiya Surface Primer is going to stick to my PE parts ?...

Hasegawa Voyager 1/48: strategy to paint the model

Hi fellas. The model in question is Hasegawa's Voyager, 1/48th scale, with Eduard PE parts. The objective of this model is to practice (i) working with PE parts and (ii) airbrushing. Both of which I am relatively new. Where I am right now, is that I have completed the model in 5 smaller...

    How to bend PE parts

Guys thanks for the responses. About the bender, I am watching this video here, this chap is bending all PEs by hand, and these are a 1/700 ship. It's possible ! And crazy ! I have received my small bender today, the quality of the constructions looks quite good I think.

    How to bend PE parts

@rtfoe woaaa, thank Richard very smart ! Ok, I understand. By white glue, can I confirm that we're talking about this below one ? I have this at home already. Regarding wiping the excess CA glue, I have observed that a simple Kleenex tissue will absord this glue. Any issue with absorbing it that...

    How to bend PE parts

I have watched a couple of videos on youtube but I'm still not clear. See below an example, this is the cross section of a PE part I need to bend. Forgive my drawing skills on Microsft Paint. My PE parts show a dent on one side. Now, is there an accepted way that it will always have to be bent...

    MrHobby TopCoat (matt)

Good day guys, I was cleaning up my office and found this can of the above. I have never used it but I'm thinking of using it for my 1/350 USS Birmingham. There are a number of videos on youtube explaining how to use it (mostly on gundams models for some reasons) but can I check with you...

    Hey chaps !

Thanks for the welcome fellas ! I post a picture of the Voyager kit, as well as the corresponding PE parts from Eduard. The kit itself looks very simple even by my standard, let's see about the PE parts.

    Hey chaps !

How do you do ! I don't know how much information I should give, so here goes: I'm French, retired and living in Hong-Kong since the mid-90s with my wife and daughter. I haven't built a kit in... a long time, so I'm pretty much starting from scratch again. I do not have pictures of my old...

Tamiya primer in spray: normal or fine ?

Tim, apologies I should have been clearer. Both are grey, but one can says Fine, and the other... nothing. My shop has both. See below pictures I found from the interweb of what they sell. I also realise just now that the normal one (left) says GRAY, the fine one on the right says LIGHT GRAY...

Tamiya primer in spray: normal or fine ?

Hello, My local shop sells both. I have purchased the normal one for the 1/350 ship I'm presently building because... that's the one I have used before. After application (3 light coats), it looks a little coarse to me. Is there any benefit in using the fine one ? For what kind of application...

Hi guys, 1) I'm building a 1/350 USS Birmingham from Very Fire and the manual indicates that I need some deck blue. For... well, the deck. The manual indicates the following choices: C01 at Very Fire MA310 at Victoriam SC15 at MR.Hobby I'm not familiar with either 3 paint manufacturers and...

    Problems with ladder PE parts

Thanks fellas, appreciated the responses. Yes Tim I think you're right, that's what it looks like and how it has to be done I think. The manual doesn't show clearly enough but I found a video on youtube from the same manufacturer, different model, and what it looks like, the entire runners have...
