Ain't that the truth!!
Little update before cruising the Med for a week - really looking forward to Florence and Pompeii.
The tyres have firm foam "inner tube" inserts presumably to prevent the tyres flat spotting as this will be fairly heavy when finished.
The tyres fitted to the rims with beautifully turned air valves. The wheels came gold painted but during the race the car had gold rims with Firestone tyres, gold front and aluminium/ gunmetal years with Goodyear wet weather tyres and finally as I have painted them.
Battery finished except for the cables, redone cut off switch, steering wheel done and finally "glass" fuses fitted - not sure if it was worth the effort though.

Lovely work so far with some great detailing.
Wheels and tyres are all looking superb Stefan. So much detail, even if it won'y be seen, you will know that you have done a comprehensive build.

Thank you very much, Italy is our favourite European country and there is so much culture to siak up and car factories to visit.
Well I've got the rubbish decal off eventually, masked and primed the affected area.
Hopefully get the blue on tomorrow before leaving for a week so it can fully cure. Fingers crossed there's no colour difference.

Painted the offending area and it came out ok. The colour may be slightly lighter but with decals and clearcoat I think it won't be noticeable.

Can't see the difference in the paint in the photos, Stefan. Excellent job fixing it.
Since returning from my holiday I have had 2 full build days doing decals and finishing off the dashboard.
The (expensive) Cartograf decals were worth the extra money, beautifully in register, the correct colours and dimensions and laid down beautifully with Microsol used in several difficult areas. The area around the roof vents I will color match and paint when everything settles down.
The decals included switch labels which are tiny but look great. Instrument faces applied and UV resin lenses made then fitted the aluminium switches and nuts - extremely pleased with the results.

Small update.
Fitted supplied experimental engine code stickers and homemade decals to fuel components and oil filter.
usually after clearcoat any slight colour difference goes away looking good

Well I am now 266 hours into this build so officially longest build so far.
Kit supplied dry transfers for the tyre logos, true to form, were absolute rubbish so AM ones bought. Wet transfers which were extremely delicate but eventually laid down. The blue stripe took ages to do using my wife's 1.0 mm acrylic gel pen - came out ok.
Some shots of the mocked up interior, still to sort out a fire extinguisher and contemplating a wiring loom from the fuse box.

The battery depicted is a modern racing one which was fitted to the car when it was scanned and not period correct but I quite like the idea of a 6 pack of beer as Ken Miles liked a pint or a tea if history is to be believed.
