And that's the final bit of wiring finished. Now to start squeezing all that wire through the ship.......

I have decided that I'm not going to stand her on a pole yet. A friend is building the Base for me but it won't be ready for a while, got a standard Box and built a cradle for her to rest in

Thread owner
Finally got time to do a bit tonight. Starting with the cradle. Model putty filled the space on the box then moulded into desired shape with my spare hull.

Then on to the nacells. I needed more led strip, which arrived today, I've put 2 strips in each engine which softly light constantly. Then 2 5mm bulbs in a child's clear straw which connects to a circuit board so when operated will brightly light the engine with sounds too. Only done the one side so far though....

Looks like a great project, look forward to seeing the final result.

Turns out that there is not enough room in the nacells for all the wiring.... back to the drawing board. Not matter how I tried I just couldn't seal the units, so I'm back here...

Progress has been slow due to work, but back on it again now. Completely rewired the port nacell, all done and sealed. Now to start on the starboard side.

Thread owner
Each nacell has 2x 5mm bulbs connected with a clear straw which is run off a circuit board with sound, and there is a long led strip internal in both nacells which will be constantly illuminated. The strip covers both internal sides of the nacell, with the bulbs off set to give an even glow, and with them facing across the nacell there is no 'white spots' and the straw helps diffuse the light.

And so begins the rewire of the starboard nacelle. Side note I have had enough of fibre optics...... grrr

Thread owner
And that's them both finished, awaiting the drying process and then I'll attach the nacells to the pylons. Ohh it's getting close to being put together now.

Thread owner
This is the full length of the led strip used. The most frustrating g part of this section of the build other than rewiring twice and going good through 3 sets of pylons has been using the fibre optics cable. It's fiddly, fragile and sometimes damb near invisible. But it's done now.

Thread owner
Dude that just looks horribly complicated, rather you than me..... its looking good though can't wait to see it done.

Thread owner
And tonight we begin attaching nacells to pylons and sealing up the front of the engineering hull. Threading the wire through for the saucer is going to be fun.....

Thread owner
And finishing up the evening, a pretty vision of completion. The wiring is now threaded through the ship, the engineering hull is glued as are the nacells, all that's left is to place the nav light fibres to their respective bulbs and glue the 'neck' piece on. Then it's on to paint to get and full ship decals.

Thread owner
The final bit of fibre and wire placement prior to sealing the neck

Thread owner
Starting to attach to her temporary Base. But she is in one piece now (minuse the nacelle grills) all gaps now being filled prior to final coat of paint. That's a lot of wire!!!
