discussion 1/16 T-72 Upgraded to Ukrainian version

I actually started working on this project a while ago and it has been an on/off piece for months.

I have a 1/16 RC Diagostini T-72 that didn't work so I redid the electrics and was never really happy with it so started to rework it.

Now, I also have a T-90 and this was to be a playmate but with what is going on that model has been shelved. I do not want this to be a political hot potato so, if need be, it will be removed.

I have no pics yet as my camera is on the blink.

The model has been stripped down and reactive armour has been made for the turret, this is turning out to be a pain due to curves. I have more to add to the glacis plate and then the sides, I am also working in some new optics that the upgraded versions had.

Will hopefully get some pictures up soon.

I know what you mean Ron, but many of the models are from past events, this is happening right now and the last thing I, or this forum needs is political fallout. Hence why I hesitantly posted this. Like I said, if anybody starts and tries to use this thread as political platform I will request that it is taken down.

As Ron says 'a model is a model' and if the forum can host a Russian GB then a Ukrainian tank should be fine as well.

Finally got some pictures.

She isn't buttoned up as I am still working on it but you get the overall look.

Reactive armour added, this is a early T-72 that is used so the armour is a bit different.

Made new optic scope on turret.

UPDATE.

No piccies but, round two of painting, forest green has had second coat and it has now had a angle pattern in olive drab.

I am also making some side armour skirts, this is all individual blocks, this is on hold until my finger are better.

Second round of camo added, tracks and rubber outer wheels on, optics all made and fitted.

UPDATE

Loads done, new gun mount made, gun all repainted. Figures repainted and in situ. Some decals applied. The turret mantlet has a awful plastic 'cloth look' that was brittle and broken so I made a insert and made a real cloth one.

Electrics in turret went fubar. Turned out the motors had gone, so had to strip them out and replace...oh, joy. But, SHE NOW WORKS!

Got some weathering to do and then seal with a matt coat. Getting so close.
