This is probably my favorite out of all the Ferraris so I thought I would start my Road Racers build with this one. The kit came with no decals or instructions but I think I can manage. I will be buying some aftermarket decals for it. I’ve painted the the wheels and tires it is just to Hot and Humid to paint anything else.

Hi Lee,

Good to see this one

I've got quite a stash of these kits - an old Airfix sales rep had a garage full of kits that he off loaded via my local model shop (way back when I had a local model shop!). I bought quite a lot of classic old kits including the cars

Jaguar 420, Ford Escort, Ford Capri, this Ferrari, a Lambo, Victor 2000 estate, Mini, and a few from the vintage range such as Lanchester, Bullnose Morris, Rolls Royce etc - these are the ones I can remember anyway

That’s neat Simon hope I can give this old kit some justice. The box art on these old kit are beautiful I’ve been looking for these kits for quite sometime this one popped up out of nowhere on eBay for a buy now price that was reasonable so I snatched it. Hang on to those old kits there so hard to find and they want a mint for the on Sleezbay. Thanks for stopping by

You're right Lee, the box art is great on the old kits.

The Jag, Victor and Capri are pretty rare ones now - think I paid around £5 each but have seen them selling for considerably more

Yes they are crazy on price these days I guess my favorite 2 box art is the Ford zodiac and the MG 1100

I got the wheels painted and put the tires on I tried a pin wash but didn’t like it so I think I’m keeping them this way for now the chrome paint does shadows the spokes in some areas

Hi Lee
Nice idea to build something that you have thought about for many years. I was reading about old Airfix kits the other day. They say that the original white-box kits are better than their re-releases of the same subject as the moulds are less worn. Don't know if that's true but interesting anyway. I reckon cars like these would be kept very clean. I know if I owned a vintage Ferrari I would keep it pristine :tongue-out3:

Jim. Thanks and that is true older kits build much better due to the molds are not worn. The Bew rereleases from AMT are junk the molds are so wore out the do not fit properly. I think I’m not going weather none of these fine cars. Thanks for stopping by

Hi Lee, remembered you were doing this this morning while looking at the forum.
Will look great i'm sure when you've finished with it.
Simon is building up his pension :smiling2:

Hope you and the family are all ok .
