Hi Moni welcome, hope your ok down there in Aus. Still a long way to go, so you've not missed much.:smiling3:

Hi Ron, I still have no idea , even after looking at Google !

Thanks Ron.

Welcome Dave, getting a bit tricky this morning, as the photos will show !

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It would be easier if the instructions were slightly clearer, just having a couple of arrows pointing down as in thew photo is not very clear.

Part no A13 X2 has 3 small pins, well blobs more like. You don't apply glue to the mount its self to the engine, so it can angle. If they are left flat on the torsion bar frame the fan belt rests on the front frame. Decided to fit the exhaust pipe as the mounting brackets should set the hight of the engine. Well they don't , at this point trying to line up the engine was pointless, so I glued the prop shaft in place. This has to be straight with the rear transfer so using this as a reference point I glued the whole lot into place. In fighting with the frame I've lost the bottom hose sections , 2 of them. Soon made a replacement from stretched sprue. This can wait until the engine is fully detailed and painted. Not going to fit the rad at this point either , because of the painting.

Yes well and truly wrangled into place. The exhaust pipe mounting at the front is about 3mm up Any lower and the engine would fowl on thew front x bar.
Now going to start the detailing of the engine.

Dzhon.
Looks like steady progress :thumb2:
It's certainly not gonna make a run for it under that lot.:smiling:

I hope this works JR......looks like you've been throwing your "weight" around again.....you'll have it whipped into submission in no time! :tongue-out3: Bring on the engine details Sir! Rick H.

Quite right Mark, apart from the only things I had to hand I thought you'r not going to move while you dry.:nerd:

I've just taken some stills of the video Paul found, so can use those to refer too while fighting detailing Rick .

Up early this morning to spray the top coat on, having sprayed primer on the engine last night.
In detailing of course you find you need to make things up to do a dry fit so you could make up the fuel lines.

The fuel tanks are not fixed, will need to be painted as well I think before the final fit.

Last night.

Looking at the pipe dia now thinking its a bit thick ?

Thanks for looking in.

Dzhon.

Hi JR, What diameter wire are you using for the pipe?...it doesn't appear to look too big to my eyes. Once you get it under the hood, it should look good, along with whatever else you you are adding. Rick H.

Looking good Dzohn. Think what -50F temps do to fuel oil. Half inch supply pipe wouldn't be too thick IMHO.

Rick 1mm , so maybe a little on the large size, that would make it 35mm, See Paul has just arrived and has made a suggestion.

John,
If they are fuel lines they might be a bit thick but they should be ok.
Think a bit on the heavy side Paul, that difference between looking right and wrong here.

Hi Paul, so about .4 mm , so if you mean 1/2 inch internal then .6 should be ok.:thumb2: Thanks .

Looking good John, I have to admire your persistance with what looks like a rather tricky build. I googled Detroit 4-71 & the fuel supply pipe to the filter looked rather thick rubber, so I think your version will be fine!

John. Looks very nice
Thanks for your support Lee.

Hi Graeme, yes there were frustrating times with the assembly, I put it down to some vague instructions. I know what you mean about the fuel lines, unfortunately I can't find any photos of the real engine, so having to rely on the net and many free standing versions. In two minds as to paint it black as hose or steel as pipe work.

I do like a good engine build….coming along nicely John
Cheers Si , hope your all well at Benson Towers:thumb2:

looking good,

Thanks Moni.
Wow that is one good looking engine, amazing John
Cheers Ron, seems to take so long, paint a bit, glue it, find the right size wire, ponder over the photos of the engines, but all good enjoyable fun.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Things are moving on a slow pace, as I said to Ron. One thing I have changed is the battery support, well there wasn't one ! This should be completely covered up, no way that is going to happen. The cover including the left head lamp will be off. Due to this I've made a plastic card section with some wood grain on in and glued it down.

The rad is now fitted, to get the fan to line up with the rad cut out I had to force the engine down till the lower pully was abled to be glued with ca. There is no leeway on this part, at least the top hose now lines up.

To night I found some suitable pre twisted copper wire from an old ariel tuning coil from a radio set, this has been treated in metal primer and will be painter black tomorrow. Once dried it will run from the batteries to the starter motor.
I've started on the cab, seems very thin and flexes easily, should firm up when the roof goes on. Lots of pre painting needed here internally before I fit the windscreen . The doors are two part, trapping the glass between, so a lot of time will be spent on this part.

Thanks for looking in, comments more than welcome, any ideas please shout out.

Oh John, what are you letting yourself into? This model is the reason I gave up on MiniArt! OK it was a few years ago, and I think they've improved their plastic, but mine suffered from brittle plastic disease!, and getting some parts off the sprues in one piece was a major success I think the 'working' torsion bar suspension was bad enough, but the control linkages from engine to cab turned me into a gibbering wreck. After that the tracks were a walk in the park! NOT that I'm trying to put you off!!!! I'll be very interested to see how you go on! :tongue-out:
Sadder & Wiser
Dave
Aw Dave, I feel your pain man. So far the one Miniart kit that I took on, left a similar impression (or would 'depression' be a more appropriate term here?) Upon opening that over-stuffed box, what a humbling debacle THAT devolved in to.. Sigh.... But, I do like your labeling of sprues John, will follow your example next time.
