The wife and I were looking at the pictures we took when we went to Normandy for a month a couple of years ago or so. We spent much of the time following in the foot steps of the U.S PIR's, both the 101st and the 82nd. Visiting all the D.Day locations of their major battles and the memorials.

It was whilst looking at our photos, I came up with an idea for a simple diorama. But first here is a finished - minus weathering - 101st Paratrooper, who will be with other figures in the dio..

Brush painted with Vallejo model colour. The detail, including the insignias, were done with Humbrol enamels. The gun strap, helmet straps and cammo. net all scratch made.

The pictures are a bit dark, and the helmet netting needs re-painting a darker shade....must try harder.

I hope you like the wee man - complete with blacked up chops!

Thanks chaps.

The more I look at the pictures, the more I see wrong colours! His uniform is a light beige / khaki colour!

These pictures appear far too green. It could be my monitor.

I'll try and take a better photo - perhaps outdoors tomorrow, if it stops raining that is:(

Thanks again,

Ron

Looking very good that' Ron ( you've done him justices and at that scale it's hard I find to get the shading right. Colours look OK to me and maybe as you say it could be monitor glare. My wife and I did the Normandy beach tour a couple of years ago and when at St mere- Eglise we went to the museum there and the American Paratrooper looks very simular to what you've got there.

Cracking figure

Love the paintwork

Nice work Ron if you hadn't mentioned the scale I would have thought it was bigger
