I like the tyres. I did have robber ones on my m19 and managed to paint those ok. I did sand the join lines though

Build looks very clean. Do they tell you what the two levers on the far right are for? I see transmission gear selector, hand brake & transfer case selector, but don't know what the last two are. You might want to round the tire profiles as these are too square. Ruts/rocks while offroading would tear the steering wheel out of your hands. That's why the real ones are shaped like a doughnut. Also you may want to investigate some braided wire instead of thread for the winch. Just some observations that may help. PaulE

Paul,

Thanks for the observations especially about the tyres. It doesn't tell you anything about the levers so I will have to Google that. There is not a great deal of progress at the moment as I am away on a course. I will certainly look into the braided wire Amy ideas what diameter I would need.

Hi Marty,

Coming along nicely there. Hobby boss certainly know how to cram in the details ehh!!
Paul has pointed out a few tweaks that will improve it nicely.

With the winch cable, it’s possible to twist up you own like I did for this 1/72 Jagdpanther.

If you pull apart some old cables you can make it as thick or thin as you like.

Si,

Awesome idea mate I will give that a go when I get home at the moment I'm doing a quad bike course.

Marty

Watch those quads. They'll wreck your shoulders if you're not careful. Don't know where my head was at, but the two on the right must be winch controls. PaulE

Paul,
Your not wrong there about the shoulders mate. I have a night drive with NVGs on tomorrow night.

The chassis looks very well detailed and the cab interior has come out well. Keep it coming mate

Good morning,
Well I didn't kill myself on the quad course and passed I just have the instructor course to do now. I will try and tackle some of the points like the tyres and the winch rope. I will try and post some progress later this evening. Thanks for all the comments they are really helpful.

Bobby,
There is a serious amount of detail in this kit unfortunately I didn't get a chance to get some of it done last night.

Marty

Marty,
I've done the HB GMC tanker, and the GMC 40mm bofors carrier - both using the same chassis'. Nice detail, no construction problems, just as long as you keep everything square ( thus get all the wheels touching the ground ).

I seem to remember the only problem I had was with the Tanker windows - a very tight fit! I picked these up, as is my normal practice, at a bargain price

I think I'm gonna go for the tanker next if i can find one at a bargain price.
Your trucks do look good though mate,
Thanks for showing them.
Marty

Marty,
the tanker seems to go for £35 at the moment - the GMC Bofors at about a tenner less. I have a wish list, but with a maximum price against each one ( in my mind! ), daily, I browse the 'net, looking for that discount. I have a lot of patience, indeed getting a model at a bargain price is part of my enjoyment. I hasten to say, I'm a builder, not a collector!
Dave

Martyn,
I very rarely look on e-bay these days - it's changed so much, since I used to use it, become more commercial ( and people are more aware of the value of stuff! ). I had a dispute with PayPal, and now I won't deal with them. I just have a bookmark list of retail outlets, and visit them regularly. I do use Far East sellers, but having been bitten by HM Customs for VAT ( AND been charged £5 for the privilege by Royal Mail ) only for small items. Amazon still remains a good starting point. A few sites have 'damaged box' sections, where it's always worth a look.....................
Patience is the main factor, you won't get the latest release, but I'm a maker, not a brownie point collector! :tongue-out3:

Dave followed your advice on bargain hunting I brought the Dragon wagon and trailer and all the PE for it and got the colour tankograd book for 115 pounds including postage.

I will try and get some done now I have painted the cab and interior I just have some decals to put on. I will post the pictures in a bit.

Marty

This particular version was used primarily as a prime mover, hence the two spare tires. Not often seen used, but these could be mounted on the driven front axle to improve off road performance. The winch was a light one, so probably half the diameter of a tank's tow cable. PaulE
