Some great news. One of the Vickers Guns has arrived, we can take it that the first one has been lost. Just for a change i will now deviate from the SE5a and construct this 1/4 Scale Gun. I will complete a step by step section for you to see how this goes together and what it will look like as a finished item. We need to complete this Gun as it is an important piece that is required to complete the build rear of the fuel tank. Hope you will find this a refreshing change from the norm and enjoy it as much as i will. I will try to picture each phase on top of the instructions so that you can get the general idea of the process.

Now this is fascinating stuff to a plastic mangler like me Andy. I can see from your progress the materials that you are using and I understand that the whole thing can't weigh a ton (or even as much as the real thing) but what sort of weight are we talking about for the whole assembly? I'm familiar with the real thing and this looks really good, I'm interested to see how you finish it!

Thanks Steve. When you are refering to wieght... do you mean the Gun only? if so it cant weigh more than a few grams. Its mainly card and paper with a very few thin ply bits and a small piece of Balsa.

Thanks John for your kind words. Steve, i will weigh it when finished and give you a gross weight, should be light as a feather.

Thanks guys

This is all terrific stuff Andy, it's a real pleasure to watch it all start to come to life stage by stage, bit by wonderful bit!

Well done fella,

Ron

Thank you Ron, i did have my doubts about these guns because of what they are made of but having started this one im very impressed. The added advantage also is that i now have the template to build my own and will never have to buy another kit again. The Lewis Gun should look as good also i should think.

Tonight i decided to make some Spark Plugs. These are simply made by wraping some thick thread around a thin piece of evergreen styrene tube then add a nut and then a slightly larger but short piece of styrene tube below the nut and then another slightly bigger piece over the top to make the threaded section that will butt up to the engine block. Then paint matt white and silver and a quick coat of clear over the white. Once in place and the engines mounted i will fit the HT Leads.

I picked up the paint the other day PC10 and gave the radiator a coat to see what it looks like. PC10 is supposed to be a brownish colour but it seems to have come out green.

With the spark plugs finished i decided to fit them to the engine block.
