Lee , it's a wow build alright, and what a strange looking contraption makes it unusual from the start .
Like Steve says great out side shots, the colour look good esp the canvas roof.
Could have sworn I'd commented of this before .

It does Lee, doesn't it. Looks as if it would spin itself round if the aircraft didn't start!
Shame I missed the business end. I'm sure I have a better phot somewhere.

Yes, - write-up by the museum is "The Hucks Starter was invented by Captain Bentfield Charles Hucks and introduced to RAF service just after the First World War. It enabled two men to start an engine from cold in 30 seconds and was far safer than the earlier method of swinging the propeller by hand. The signage is for the Grahame White Aviation Company, based at The London Aerodrome – now home to the RAF Museum London. "

Lee, I knew I'd seen another Huck's starter somewhere - I was at the Shuttleworth Collection (www.shuttleworth.org) today, and they have this:


Seen here coupled to an Avro 504. Let me know if you want some more photos - I took quite a few, and I visit the Collection several times a year, so can always take more.
